Need some accessory advice

an aftermarket exhaust of your liking will reduce weight + give the bike a new sound over stock...looks should be second to comfort / performance. it can get expensive quick regardless of riding style

I want to go with a megaphone style slip on. my only concern is changing the fuel to air ratio and needing a power commander and a custom map. thats the only thing slowing me down on exhaust till probably next year. i keep reading that you dont need to worry with slip ons but i dont wanna have the bike running rich or lean or any different with throttle responses just because I added slip ons.. been tearing me up inside actually lol

I have the two brothers slip ons on mind. It did change the throttle responses a little. It's kinds has a flat spot right off idle but not enough to really bother me. They say the ECU editor will take it out but I have not done it yet. I also changed the air filter to a BMC F1 and that didn't seem to do anything to it either. I am sure if you put it on the dyno it would show up but for what I do with it, it's not enough to bother me. The gas millage is still good so I would say change the pipes and let her rip.

I can add a power commander but I cant mess with the ecu. I have the 5 year extended warranty and if i mess with the ecu it voids it ???

Custom Mapping is not needed with the Akrapovic Full Exhaust system.

Just my opinion, but given you just made a nice investment getting the bike and are doing mods ........ I would either pony up for the difference and get a full system or maybe hold off until tax time and get the full system. You might even catch a used system you want on here cheaper than the slip-ons. Your money , your ride, just food for thought.

Vance&Hines makes a universal ss header that works with ALL mufflers, even the stockers.
It gets rid of the catalytic converter.

isnt that like 1000 dollars? only reason im worried about a pc and custom map is the money otherwise id just get the slip ons i want and map it... love the way they sound is why

If your just wanting sound just cut your stockers 10". I did this to mine when I first got it, it did have a much deeper sound to them.. All ya need is a sawzall, rivet gun, red rtv silicone and about 5 hours.

There is a thread here with detailed instructions. I would suggest going this route before slip ons, Save your money and buy a full 4-2-1.
