Never thought we would see this in Canada

Canada weather: Heatwave hits record 46.6C as US north-west also frazzles Canada weather: Heatwave hits record 46.6C as US north-west also frazzles
It's 0700 here and already 30'C....supposed to be hot today....over 38'C

I grew up on a farm where we were very acute to the weather and I recall days when you could barely go outside because it was unbearably hot out...

My dad set up a huge sprinkler in the river to spray down our animals...we'd have to herd them through it...

Forecasting 37*C here on Vancouver Island's southern tip for today... insanely hot for this area. Luckily being only a few blocks from the ocean it's not very humid at my place. Still hot though... have the window-shaker blasting on high. Hope it holds out!

I remember growing up in Ontario, the humidity was the killer. Hard to sweat when you're already soaked. We did get some amazing thundershowers out there though... the skies would turn a dark green-grey and then all hell would break loose. Temperatures could drop 10-15 degrees after one of those. Scary but awesome at the same time.

We had a gully washer of a storm the other evening...something like 40mm of rain dropped in a short time...the sound of it on the roof was very loud...

After the storm, the temps went up....along with the humidity...

I remember as a kid growing up on the farm, when we were done haying in the field, we'd ride our bicycles to the river and generally right into it...by the time we got home we were sweat soaked again...

46c in Canada - Global warming taking a hold - shrinkage of Arctic ice pack less reflection causing further warming of polar seas expect hotter peaks next 10 years

46'C is breaking an 84 yr old record they say....so how hot has it got before the record was established 84 yrs ago....this could be part of a cycle for all we know.....

Look at many places that used to be green and lush that are now deserts.....

the River Thames used to regularly freeze over during the 18th Century - mini ice age
if that Atlantic conveyor warm current stops then UK will have Canadian winters
Latitude Toronto 43 degrees N
Latitude London 51.5 degrees N
Great, think of all the jobs it will create...snow plow drivers, out door ice rink attendants, etc.......

Right!!! I’ve lived in Alaska and Minnesota so I’m comfortable in the cold. Texas did not know what hit them. Unfortunately However the rebuild of the power grid is being imposed on the end user as increased taxes and fees for maintenance. Bs if you ask me.

Agreed. We have a "delivery fee" on our hydro bill here... as though they load my electricity into a truck and bring it over to my house for me to use. You'd think that when providing an electrical service to a paying customer, getting the product to them would be included in your cost of doing business.

Just like those stupid 'fuel surcharges' when the price of gas went up... again, if in providing your service you need to burn fuel, that's on you, not the customer.

Don't forget our "carbon tax" on all fuel now....
