On the 31st anniversary of working in construction i turned my back on danger for just one second.
Thursday afternoon i was working on a roof top at a "DUCt Tape" company.
The scope of the work was to change the outlet height of a recently installed high pressure steam vent.
My job was to stage and erect scaffold equipment on the roof top to make the changes....
By lunch we had all the equipment at the location and i started to construct the scaffold as the other co work brought the gear closer.
It was a grand late summer day.. I climbed to the upper level of the scaffold to complete the decking and guard rails. I was quite aware of the steam and its direction.
I bent over to pick up another peice of equipment and stood up in the stream of super heated steam.
The wind had shifted and blew it in my directon. I was not in the path for more then a second.
Just a reminder for all.... wear all your gear and never let down your guard.
It is the nature of the business. You just never know.
