NEW BIKE OVERHEATED!!

I uncrated my bike myself.  The only thing it needed was a charge in the battery.  We checked the whole thing over, but coolant, oil, etc..was all there.
Maybe they have changed that, but I doubt it.

In any event, I'd get a different bike.
thats how they still come my dealership uncrates them adds half gallon of fuel runs them out and puts them on the floor

Great I sold the Blackbird for running 250F in city traffic, I hope the Busa doesn't do the same...

Well if it overheats then it will be gone too. I expect heat from the engine but I will not keep any bike that I can not ride in city traffic. I see a few Busa's in town (stop and go traffic) during the summer months. Just no puke overs and having to pull over to let the bike cool down.

The first night i had mine, it started to overheat at a traffic light. The next day i took it back to the dealer, and it wouldnt overheat. The mech. told me that it must of had an air bubble in the system. After one of the services on of the services, it overheated that same night. Called the dealer, and when they were servicing it they checked all the fluids. There was my problem they tampered with the coolant. Runs fine now, didnt even have a problem in biketoberfest traffic. Coolant systems are a pain when it comes to air, I helped a buddy change his coolant to Engine Ice. Getting all the air out was a pain.

I wouldn't worry about it. If there's nothing wrong with a Busa it won't overheat. Last summer I went on a trip and several hours out I ended up in inch and go traffic due to a major semi accident. It was sunny and near 100 degrees. After about 45 minutes I had to move to the shoulder and take off the helmet and jacket as I started to get light headed and was ready to "puke over" myself. Fan constantly cycled on/off on the Busa and she kept her cool the whole time.
If you search the forums you'll find guys who live in places like Arizona who have never had overheating issues.

If the system has been burped from the factory, fan is working properly and the idle is up where it should be it won't overheat.

I've heard the XX's run warm and my friend is always paranoid over his. Do they actually overheat to the point of having problems or just run in the 250 range on hot days? I know he has the digital gauges but I can't remember if there's a bar graph too. If it's a bar graph freaking out owners, Honda should have given it a broader range, where 250 isn't near the "H".

Mine was digital gauge, it would go up to 220F on summer days if I got below 50mph. If the fan is running too much IMO that will put stress on the charging system. I always been told if at stoplight use the throttle to raise the rpms to get coolant flowing.

Get a new one ,nothing less it would be the only thing I would accept........You will feel better when you do, just like the type of person that cant be trusted ,you know better than to deal with them but you do and it cost you..If you cant trust the bike its worthless and you dont want some dumb a$$ taking a brand new motor apart............

I would have to say since the bike is new and with all the things that could happen to a high performace engine later on even with a little problem during break-in I would insist on a new bike! Its your right to not accept that bike .

I agree, contact Suzuki, and notify them as to what has happened, Go to the dealer and tell them that you will not accept this bike back. Of course thier going tell you theres nothing wrong and that this is a common problem, no its not. You are entitled to a new bike. Contact a lawyer if it comes down to that.

Damn you folks are spastic sometimes...

"The Dealer LIED."

BULLSH!T... It's not a common problem, I've never actually been around a busa that's overheated to point of puking, I've never had my busa puke while in Florida or here in Washington. You would think that in Tampa on 95 degree days stuck in traffic I'd have noticed something. Sure the bike gets hot, and yeah I've shut it down a few times during long waits. But out of all the Busa's here on the board, all the one's I rode with in Florida, and all the Busas I've seen leave the shop I've never seen a Busa leak a drop of anything...

Can it happen? Sure, but Common? Hardley...

I'm spastic every time my Busa overheats in Virginia Beach...

I don't have any leaks in my coolant system, the coolant level is perfect, yet in heavy traffic I sometimes have to pull over to let the beast cool down. Enough guys have posted up/experienced the same problems and there are good fixes for 'em (new fan, Engine Ice, check the lines for air and kinks/thermostat)...I have yet to take the time to fix mine since I'm rarely in traffic. While it's surely not an epidemic, I'd say it's enough of an issue for Busa owners to be aware of...keep a close eye on the temp gauge when you get the bike and just learn how it responds to sitting in the heat and traffic so you know if you'll have problems...stop before it hits the red line to avoid what this member experienced.

Sorry for your aggravation with a brand new Busa. I'm holding out hope that the dealership will help fix the problem or hand over a new Busa. I'd get in writing that they checked for damage due to overheating or something of that nature...

Hey guys Im with Rev on this one. I ride here in SoCal and live in the IE ( where temps always reach into the 100's in the summer) and have never had a temp problem.

My point isn't that Busa's don't run hot, yeah they do, and yeah they sometimes get REAL hot when sitting in traffic on the hottest of days. BUT Puking coolant, and otherwise shi77ing the bed is not common, plain and simple. We hear about it hear when it happens, but we don't otherwise hear about the 25-30K other busa's out there that have no problems.

Get my point?

It's kinda like folks and this FUGGIN STEALERSHIP CRAP... We only hear about it when thigs go wrong and everyone bandwagons about how their experiance went Tits up as well, but damnit, what about the thousands of experiances that go off without a hitch? Never hear a fuggin word... Same thing here.

Take the red pill next time Rev...
