new cbr 1k has 189 rwhp?

checked out a guys new cbr1k today. he says its a limited edition hurricane model, weight of, iirc, 389 lbs and 189 rwhp!
it had an absolutely FUGLY front end, reminescent of the katanas.
it also has a stubby exhaust with 2 exits, 1 small and 1 large.
homedude says the bike expels through the smaller outlet, but over so many rpms a valve closes the small apeture and the larger exit is used.
the bike SCREAMS for a new license plate holder and flush signals. the existing setup sits about a foot from the undertail on a stalk.
so were they pulling this guys leg at honda, or does this bike really make that kinda power?
if so the busa is looking lot like yesterdays technology...

They were pulling the guys leg. Doubtful it makes that power at the CRANK even.

Be nice to carry a mini-BS flag around so you can pull it out and wave it in the face of people making claims like that.

However i kinda like the new CBR's styling. Front end Reminds me of the old butterfly headlight late 90's 900RR.

Plate holder sucks though.

The 07 definitely looks better. The bike has more like 170HP at the crank. The shop near my house dynoed one yesterday. I'll snap a pick of the dyno sheet tomorrow.

A friend of mine got 2008 1000RR , 3 days ago , he got the bike to the dyno as complete stock , RWHP=161.2HP .

I was at the local Dyno shop a few weeks ago, these guys do dyno runs for "Fastbike" magazine UK. The mechanic told me that the 08 Blade pulled 165 rwhp that morning, not too bad

He was bullspitting you, there is no "limited edition" hurricane model for '08. And it does not weigh 389lbs. They just tested it in the magazines and they liked the strong midrange but said it felt right in line with the gixxer and zx 1000's.
