I actually LIKE the new GTO. All that power in such a small package. I like that it's kind of bland looking too. A real sleeper.

I'd like to see a comparo in one of the car mags between the GTO and the new 400 hp Mustang. Should be pretty close.

are you kidding i think i saw a road test with teh Mach 1 and GTO the Mach 1 was faster, so i dobut it will handle the new 400 hp cars. I think they also weigh in at a pretty hefty 3500 lbs but could be wrong

It's a bit heavy but it still moves. Also, the quality build of the car is excellent. Park it next to a new Mustang and go thru both vehicles. I gurantee the GTO comes out ahead. Plus, a vehicle that has these #'s, 400 hp/400 lbs tq, for less than 33k? That's a pretty damn good bargain for an extremely well-made car that will smoke tires at will.

So Pontiac didn't go over the top and rice it out. Big deal. supposedly 2007 and the zeta platformed GTO is going to be a stunner. I would be surprised though if Pontiac doesn't blow it though. Their advertising sucks and their marketing skill are worse. Still, I think the new GTO is one hell of a car.

Mustang is a car for the masses. Mass produced mediocrity, a dime a dozen. At least they could have put independent rear suspension in the new one, but no. Same old low-tech live axle rear end. I think the GTO's a better, more modern package.

I'm not a Ford basher either. I own a 2003 F-250 Powerstroke and I love it.

i hear that a lot about fords but i was tryin to make a comparison to a familiar car.  Still dont like the GTO i mean looking at it doesnt remotely resemble the GTO of old and i think thats my biggest beef with the car. You can look at the mustang and  see elenor in them.

I agree with you on the looks Him. I'm glad it's not just an old GTO modnernized, but there should have been a tip of the hat to it's heritage. I mean, the 04 didn't even have scoops for goodness sakes! Of course the scoops on the 05 are mainly for show, but at least it kinda relates to the GTO?

bout mid 10's to high 10's from what i've seen posted in the past. of course the weight of the rider will also effect the times. if i was to choose between the gto or the charger, i go gto. the 4 doors doesn't make sense to me at all.

Beautiful looking car. Should have been a coupe. How much is the R/T going to run. I'd be surprised if it's less than 40k.

Edit: did some research. The Dodge Charger SRT8 is going to have the 6.1 engine with 425 hp and 450 lbs torque. That will easily reach 40k +. Impressive #'s, but it should of been a coupe!!!

The R/T weighs over 4k, comes only in automatic, puts out 390 hp/360ish tq, and still comes in 4-doors. I'm sure it will appeal to some people, but talk about going against it's own heritage! I'd rather take the GTO, even if it is made in Australia!

If you are going to blow off some gomer in a car, just do it quick. Embarass him in first gear.
Last week I had a guy in a Mustang GT try and run from me on a twisty road leaving town. I was out for a mellow ride, so I didn't pass him, I just stayed behind him. He thought I was in the chase, so he kept pushing it.....almost lost it on a 80mph left hander.
could have been ugly if I'd been right there.
After seeing that he was beyond his abilities, I pulled way back until he turned off.

so either smoke 'em quick or stay the he!! away. To many dumb a$$es out there trying to prove something.
