New here and have some ?'s

Since I'm new here I will tell you alittle about my experience on bikes. I have had a couple r6s the last of which I got to run a best of 10.45 at 132 with only a yoshi slip on pc3, lowered and geared. I was still getting faster everytime out when I bought my 06 r1 with that bike I get it down to 9.58 @ 145 stock wheel base with just graves full system and pc3 making 148 hp. Then I did a thin head gasket (split the stock one on a yamaha) degreed cams (107/103) graves v-stacks, BMC filter and took it to Smithers Customs and had it tuned after all that it was making 163 hp and 78tq. After adding bolt ons I got the bike to go 9.36 on motor and added a 40 dry shot and got it to go 9.14 @ 154 and thats about all the clutch would hold on that bike so I ended up selling it and been looking for the right deal on a busa.

Well if all goes well the end of next week I hope to be getting closer to picking up a 08 busa. The bike is bone stock now and this is what I plan on doing right off the bat, Brocks Alien head system, thin head gasket, degree cams, and pc5, and have it tuned. Now one of my ?'s is cam degree #s I plan on keeping the bike short wheel base for atleast the rest of this year and see how fast I can get it that way.

Sorry about the long story.

I cant answer your questions, but you get some good information from other members. Welcome to the oRg. :welcome:

Oh and my best 1/8 on my r1 was 5.97

I wouldn't even mess with a thin gasket and the cams for a long time. If you can get mid-9's just lowered and 8's (or knocking on them) with just bolt-on's you are getting the most from the bike. If you aren't doing that, then you could tweek it a little here and there down the road. The BUSA has a lot more torque so if you can launch it right you should go MUCH quicker on the BUSA if you are turning those times on the other bikes.

Let us know how you run stock or basic mods first and then it would be easier to give you mod advice... :beerchug:

On my buddys STOCK 08 I went 9.74 @146 only time trying then he extended it and put a full yoshi system on it and there map and I went 9.28 one of the 2 times I got to ride it.

I saw those passes with my own eyes... oh what that was my bike:cheerleader: ..... so friday night you want to make some nitrous passes and get into the 8's?

btw:welcome:

oh and, my busa was 104/106 stock. so imo on the limited stuff you wanting to do to engine i would probably go with a 107/106 (leaving your exhaust alone). but truth be told instead of wasting money on degree'able sprockets for only moving the intake cam, I would just spend a little more money and upgrade to bigger intake cam (like a .378 lift that way you dont have to worry about coil bind with stock springs) from ape that comes with degree'able sprocket already installed.

Now that's thinking with your dipstick, Jimmy!

I would love to but you know I'm leaving saturday for almost a week. I will call ya.

:welcome: but I didn't see any questions ???

and yes whether or not they make you wear the gear you should wear it all the time anyway especially since your pushing the limits of these bikes . From your times sounds like your pretty good but let it spin then hook up the wrong way and off you go .

Not even gloves :poke:.
Is the track padded ?
