New Honda CBF 1000 GT delivered this morning

Well Hunts of Manchester delivered my new bike this morning, complete with a full tank of fuel. They said 9.30, and turned up at 9.31, not bad for a 164 mile trip! Really helpful, friendly guy. Everything Ok, except they forgot to fit the Optimate battery charging lead, so they are going to mail it.

Initial impressions: When I first sat on it, it felt top heavy with the hard luggage, but that feeling disappeared as soon as I got moving. I left the screen on it's lowest setting, and there is less turbulence than on the 'busa. I will experiment with different positions later. The engine is SO smooth, even more so than the 'busa.

I am already missing a gear selection indicator, I will have to investigate aftermarket solutions, any advice?
Running in advice was to keep it under 6,000 rpm for 500 miles. So I did 6,0000 rpm in 6th, = 100mph

It looks real good! The red make it look all the more sporty. It has look similar to my old Yamaha FZ1

That's an entirely different riding experience but nice bike. I must say the busa has never left me wanting for conveniences but having spent many miles on a Bandit 1250 I can see the lure of a less committed bike. Nice looking in red too!

Sweet bike, I mean, er umm, scooter!

I just read a review of the naked R version of that bike in Motorcycle Consumer News. They raved about the brakes, the transmission, the smoothness, and the balanced handling. They were not so happy with the smoke gray over the instrument panel and the bar-style tach indicator. Torque curve is dead flat compared to the RR version of the engine, but peak power is way down at only 109 hp. It's funny how we've all gotten addicted to horsepower. 109 would have been a killer drag race machine 20 years ago!

As for the gear indicator, both GiPro and HealTech make them for your bike. Both are reported as good products. I believe HealTech is made in the UK, so if you want to support the homeland...

Congrats on your new bike. I hope it is a long and happy love affair. Cheers!
