Progress report CBF1000 GT

As you know, I sold my 'busa, and a week ago took delivery of a new Honda CBF1000 GT. I promised the occasional update on my new bike, so here goes.
Iwas able to use it to go to work a couple of days this week, as we are having an unexpected autumn heatwave here in the UK, with temperatures of 29C (85F). The hard luggage made it seem very wide at first, and I was wary of filtering between lanes, so I measured the width between the tips of the mirrors, and the edges of the panniers, and found there was only an overall difference of 75mm (3"), although in pictures the bike looks like it has an enormous booty.
I was worried I would find it slow after the .busa, but in fact the torque characteristics give an almost instant rush of acceleration. On fast straight roads, the engine is so smooth & quiet, and the screen so effective, that I have actually been matching or exceeding my usual commuting speed. At 100mph. it is smoother & quiter than the 'busa, although of course I would be left for dead if I cam up against a 'busa.
I fitted the Optimate battery charging lead that the dealer forgot to fit, and whilst doing so, found that the dealer had also not put the seat on the lowest of the 3 adjustable settings as promised, so I did that. So now, at 5' 8" I can get both feet flat on the floor.

I would like to have used it this weekend, but I haave promised to take the grandkids to Hunstanton on the Norfolk coast, so will be stuck in traffic watching all the bikes drive by.....

Lonner, I went to Hunstanton on Saturday, in the car, Took lots of pics of bikes. Did you see the Blackbird Owners having pics taken? And yes, there was amonster jam, took me, wifey & grandkids 3 hours to get home, but only 1.5 hours to get there.
Point taken about the plates.

i only go to hunstanton when its a bit chilly and for the reason you describe lol its madness when its scorching

i prefer it a bit further round towards wells cromer etc

Nice bike!...........Shouldn't you be posting this on a Honda Site?
E Zurcher, when Isold the Busa and got the Honda, I asked the org. members if they would like some progress reports on my new purchase, and they said yes.
Also this is posted in General Bike Related topics.
Were all bikers, I may go back to a busa in the future, I am sure that busa owners like reading about other makes & types of bike.
Why such a negative comment?

So, what is a CBF 1000 GT ? Is it a VFR 1200 or the VFR 750. Couldn't tell from the pictures. Or is it an ONLY in Europe Honda bike, because it isn't on the US Honda Web site ?

It is a 4 cylinder in line, 1000cc detuned Fireblade engine. 106bhp. 6 gears. Maximum speed 140 mph. Made by Honda, but put together (I Think) in Italy

Thanks, it's evidently a European model. Looks nice and more comfortable than the VFR 800 sold here.

Nice looking Honda, looks comfortable!! Great to hear you are enjoying it! Beautiful grand kids; the little boy kind of reminds me of the really smart kid that played on that sitcom My Wife and Kids with Damon Wayans! lol
