New LSR event

The start times haven't been communicated yet but I'll pass them along as soon as i know.

Yea rain is no fun. I got stuck during a run when it just started to trickle. The only reason why I knew this was because the shutdown was like being on ice. Never again! If my bones say it's about to rain I don't risk making a run.

So, as more questions are answered I'm passing them along here as well.

There will be "race gas" available for the event. VP Racing Fuel will be there so the folks running in the Gas catagories will have event race gas available to them. Remember guys running in Fuel classes can run whatever they want.

There isn't going to be a "membership" fee. There will of course be a fee to register/participate in the event. The exact fee hasn't been determined yet.

I haven't been down to Maxton for 3 years. At that time the Pirelli Super Corsa tire was a popular tire for those running in the range of 205 to 220. What tires are folks running these days for that kind of speed.

I don't know if there will be one or not. I would suggest sticking 5 bucks in your pocket. If you don't spend it at the gate I'm sure a food vendor would gladly accept it. :beerchug:

Oh trust me i'll have pleny of bills shoved in my pocket. Gotta hit a few tolls on the way to our first stop. Plus our cager needs some incentive to do the drive and a little cash will help his cause for the gas.:laugh:

Were you looking at my bike in 2006 ??? I used to run the Perilli. The 190's were nice and tall the down side was that they had massive tire growth at the top end. For some that was good but it made it that much harder to end your run at the right RPM's.

Top folks have been running the Michelin Power Race medium compound. They don't grow as much. I tried the soft compound at the end of '08. It was starting to tear a little. I didn't change my tire pressure or tire prep process which may have contributed to the short life. For this year I'm going to run it again. This time I'll have more time to play with tire pressure and a different prep process.

My personal feeling why the medium is being run is that the top turbo guys have to run alot of additional weight and the torque hp they're trying to lay down on the top end (when the tire is hotest) may be to destructive for the soft compound tire. Since I'm not turbo and I don't run extra weight I figure I might be able to take advantage of the softer tire. We'll see. If you go to the Sept. Maxton event and check my tire then you'll know what my results were as far as soft or medium compound.

poor fella is gonna have to troll his whole way up in a cage . I would need for than just gas money to do that :beerchug:. Make sure he's got some tire plugs and other quick repair kits for you guys. Long trips require alot of additional prep. I'm sure no one wants a flat in no mans land maine.

The price on the Michilens has come down a bunch. I will definitely try one of these. I'm only running 235 HP and 690 lbs so I can probably get away with the soft.

You mentioned tire prep? I assume your talking tire warmers or shaving, but I'm assuming thats not necessary for anyone running < 220 mph. What did you mean?

This is really going off subject for the thread. I don't want this thread to start going South and to keep it on subject I'll PM you my response. I'm not trying to be secretive and I'll gladly share things with anyone who cares. Just PM me or we can start another thread.

it's just movin along. The LTA (Loring Timming Association) is having meeting to hash out all the details. No new newsa to report  I'm still staying on top of things though.

Here's another update for everyone.

There will be no on site camping/rv/overnight area at the Loring site. The Loring business association doesn't feel "comfortable" since there are many businesses located at the site.

An overnight camping area close to the Loring air field is being investigated.

WOW... I'm shocked(sarcasim)... Should've known since its there second event there that the buisnesses wanted in on the action.

Just as an update... if there's anyone seriously considering this event it would be good to hear from you even if you haven't booked/reserved a room and/or submitted an entry form. They're trying to keep a loose head count of participants.

Also the state police will be out at the runway some time this month and will be testing the surface and reporting on the coefficient of friction. This information will be shared with all of the racers so that we're all a little more informed on the conditions. Get ready to figure out your tire choice, suspension setup, gearing, boost setting, ramp rates, etc

I haven't been very good with updating this thread. Draco reminded me when he PM'd me about any updates on camping....

The Caribou Inn is sold out. The next place is The Presque Isle Inn. This one will be sold out pretty quick as well. If not by racers than by visitors to the annual Northern Main Fair in Presque Isle.

The LTA is come to an agreement with the Loring Development Authority to allow and designate an area for Camping and RVs to stay during the entire event. The area will be just to the left side of the starting area on a grassy area.

This event just a little over a month away so if you plan on attending the race or spectating, it's time to set you plans in stone or at least semi-cured concrete. :beerchug:

My plans got shot. I've got new orders coming in soon and i'll be moving back down to Georgia in about a month or so. Had a lot of disappointed people that were going with me. :banghead::cursin:
