New or Used

ok, in my last post, you guys pretty much sold me on the busa...I'd like to get it sometime next year, maybe the summertime...

now i come to the inevitable realization that money just doesn't grow on trees...

I'm not sure about how much financing i will be able to get on a new busa, so it might take me a while to come up with the difference in down payment...The obvious alternative would be to buy one used...

Now i don't have a problem buying used one bit...and it sounds like it could save me some money...But once i get this bike, i plan on using it a LOT...probably not selling or trading in anytime soon...I'm going to put a lot of miles on it...

I want the bike as soon as possible, but if its better to wait so i can buy new, then i will do that...

what would you do?

Yeah, you should be able to find plenty of Busa's from owners who just like Hawaii said scared themselves right off of it... Last year when I first started shopping for a Busa there were three in Tampa with less than 2K miles... Pretty funny....

You'ld be lucky to find a late model Busa with low miles that a ton isn't owed own unless some unlucky rider has to part with it really quick...Looks like you've got time and patience...So you'll decided what's financially best for you...Also check on insurance rates before you make your purchase... :D

The scary way...
Pick up a busa with a dismantled title ('02 w/ 2K miles $5250), rebuild the bike ($500 misc parts), and change it to a salvage title.  Now clean it up and repaint (not done yet).

Scary, but only way this 'po school teacher can get into mighty Busa.

Best to be knowin yo stuff if tryin this.  That and ask these folks lotsa questions.

P.S. edit was to add the year

Bought mine with 900 miles on it.Was not even broken in yet and flawless. Many buy them and have a change of heart ,big savings for the buyer.

some really good stuff out there. When you are ready just be careful what you are looking at. Also make sure you have enough money for the insurance, so you are not one of those selling cheap.

Got my 03' used with 1300 miles on it. Once satisfied from VIN searches, talking to owner, and his dealership that all had been broken in properly, I bought. Over $5000 in mods added and he had to sell. Bike was bought out of home purchase savings and their plan to buy moved up by a full year, bike had to go. His loss my gain, I got it for the price of a brand new one off of the floor and got the 5K in acc's for free!!! Plus no wait for the break in. :D
Good deals out there just do relentless home work on the bike and the seller before buying.
JT2!

Mmm, Thats a thought... I'll bet there are more than a few Busa's for sale whose owners lept before they checked on the insurance. If they were too young or had to many tickets then it would explain it...

Can't emphasize doing the research on the bike enough. There are a lot of scams out there trying to make a quick buck on things like this. Insurance is key and has kept a lot of people from enjoying the 'Busa!

yeah what Rev and Ninja said... I forgot to mention my Busie was officially in the used bin in Florida found it at Cycletrader.com but it was at a dealer and had 600 miles on her and still under warranty. I called Suzuki to make sure recalls were done and it was all good, never have had a serious prob.

Also for me I would never buy any Bike or car that had a bunch of mods done to it. Stock is just great and YOU can upgrade from there ... that way u know what was done and who did it.

:type:  ok done ... thank u for your support!

I bought a new 03 anniversary addition here in oregon for $9600 out the door. They still have a black and gray they are trying to sell for 9400. No sales tax here. There are good buys on the new 03's too. Don't know what your budget is but new means never been touched by anyone, and you can start from there.

buy new - get the warrenty - no looking back or thinking what did the last owner do with it !
Costs a bit more but worth it in the long run

My 2 cents anyway

look for a cosmetic salvage, i bought mine after a friend laid it on its side and slid. Insurance decided that it was easier to write it off so he went and financed a new one and sold me his for salvage title pluss repairs. I paid 2800 cdn. for the 2001 blue silver plus 200 cdn to fix bike and have retitled. Now shes perfect.

Not being the type to buy the fastest freakin' bike and then modify it. (No offense to those who do  )
I tend to agree with Tinman. Heck I even got the Suzuki Extended warranty. Buy new if ya can. Unless you really know what your doing you prolly want to stay away from heavily modified bikes. Just cause YOU know a spanner from
a screwdriver doesn't mean the MODIFIER did. :super:

If ya do go used... check it out real careful like, after
all it IS the fastest freakin' bike! :D Don't want someone
else's mistake and or results now do we?

Also be advised that there is NO going back after owning a Busa. Its that damn good!

Good luck... Hopefully you too will soon be a Busa addict!
