New or used?

I'm in the market for buying a replacement for my sv650 that I traded in on my wifes vehicle.  Locally, there isn't much of a market for used hayabusas.  And the dealers won't budge from their prices.

So I'm left with a bit of a problem.  There is a place a couple hours away that has the 08's marked at 10400.  Or I can buy used.  But buying used would mean that I would have to travel(probably long distances) to get the best deals (for The Pumpkin ), which is about 15hrs away.

Any opinions?  I like the idea of new but I also like all the aftermarket stuff being done on the used bikes.

Buying used will save you roughly $3grand. I personally don't feel the need to go ot and buy a new bike when there are NICE used ones to buy. If it is a little far from home, use it as a weekend getaway. Just communicate with the seller for a while and get as many pics as you can, and ask any and all questions you can think of. Just try to get an over all feel for the seller and you should be able to tell how the bike was treated.

buy new, my friend and i have been searching for a used busa and have found nothing but over priced squided out junk, however i know that streamline performance in hutchinson has 2-04's that are suppost to be nice and bobz bikz in kingman has a clean 06 on there website. we are going to check these bikes out (if they still have them) as soon as he gets some time off, you might have to check them out too. If looking for new i highly recommend calling chance or kirby down @ chanute honda, kawi, suzuki, they blow the other dealers away price wise. happy hunting

I've test drove the black one at bobs. It is pretty nice, except it has 10k or 11k miles, and the price seems a bit too much. The white one he has, does have a few blemishes on it, but very low miles. Still a bit too much for basically being stock I think. I've find a place in Chanute that has one or two. But for the prices the dealers ask for basically stock prices, you can get one that has a lot of aftermarket stuff for cheaper.

This is a very nice bike! Have seen it from its beginning and the mods that have been done to it. Scott is a great person and member of the board, so you couldn't go wrong if you decided used was the way to go!

You're probably right, but I hate the idea of not seeing something in person before doing a deal.  I just got bit doing that with a $1k tool box.

In addition, my bank is a bit pickier about paying for something from a private party.  A couple more hoops I have to jump through.  Then their's the distance.....What to do...what to do.

If you can get an 08 for 10,400 otd, then I would get it. That is about 2k cheaper than you can buy them here.
