New owner & new to the forum

Thanks for all the tips.

I don't have any gear right now...

Maybe if I ride with shorts and no gloves it will remind me and make me ride the bike like a granny.

And expect to see some "drunken" posts by me... I'm notorious for doing that sometimes.

When I finally twist the throttle for the 1st time on Monday, I'm going to enter into the situation with a lot of caution, but also with some confidence... because I know I can ride the bike. Can I really handle a Busa? Not yet. I'm not going to try to go past my limits.

No offense but I suggest you pre-book a room at the ER and pre-book a comfortable cell at the local jail if you:

* Ride without gear
* Ride under the influence of alcohol

Riding without gear will not force you to ride like a granny - it will make you look like a granny by the time you get out of rehab in case you dump the bike. Stop posting here and start shopping for gear. Boots + Gloves + Leathers.

If I know of anyone riding/driving under the influence of alcohol - I take their keys, lock them in a room until they sober up.
It is bad enough getting yourself hurt - dont take others down with you.

When you get the bike - dont twist the throttle - you will be on your ass outside the dealership and the bike will probably be ready for an insurance claim. Just "leaning" on the right hands sends this bike shooting away - let the clutch go out slowly until it "bites" and the bike starts to move forward...then open the throttle VERY slightly and get moving.

I won't drop the bike. The Kat 600 I had weighed about the same and the only time it ever fell over was when somebody pushed it over (######## turned it over when I parked it on the street). It also fell the first day I rode it. But since... never dropped it. When it did, I was able to lift it back up. If somebody ever pushes over my Busa... they better pray I don't catch them doing it.

I would never drink and drive. I only drink and type!

I got it from Pell City PowerSports for 10,143 OTD... riding it home Monday June 19th.

I won't be riding home today because the dealer is still waiting for funds to clear and there is this clause in my financial deal that gives me 10 days to back out or some #### so the dealer is waiting til the money is in their account. Just more waiting for me, that's all... It's ok because the forecast calls for rain this afternoon/night and I wouldn't want to be riding home in that.

Here's the receipt I requested on Fri when I paid. So you know I'm not full of shi7.

Please, please, please, please, please get gear, bro. At least always wear the helmet, leather jacket and armored riding boots like Sidi or Alpine Stars. Get armored gloves and leather pants as soon as possible, too. Trust me, there are a lot of people here who will tell you the same thing. Life's just too painful to have road rash and then wish you had listened to us. Watch the videos that predominate here and check the pictures posted everywhere.

Believe me, you'll be glad you did.

Unless there's rain tomorrow morning between 8-12, I'll have the bike in my garage. And pics will be here... I have a window tomorrow to get it between 8-12 because I've got a photoshoot at 1:30 which will last til about 7.

Once I get the bike, expect lots of photos from me... I plan to take the bike around and get some good shots of it against different backgrounds and scenery, etc. Well, after I get my cycle license/insurance so I'm legal.

Don't get all that excitement transfer to your wrist...the way it sounds, you are too excited...its time to get the right gear...definetly...better to start shopping right now...mesh jacket, 200, glove, 100, good boots 100~400...start lookin into...cummon...

You dont have a license or insurance?

This keeps getting better and better all the time.

I am sorry but I guess the skeptic in me is surfacing rather rapidly after you made that statement. You said that you had been riding before...were you riding without license or insurance?

How does one walk into a dealership and put money down when they dont have license and insurance yet? Dont you know that the dealership will now allow you to take the bike out onto the streets without these documents?

I'll believe it when I see it...you've gone from pillar to post with stories about the weather and paperwork etc. Where do you live? The South Pole?

What a tease...

Believe me... I will post pictures. I'm a professional photographer! haha!

Damnit, I'm excited! But what I'm really looking forward to is getting the Busa out to Los Angeles (moving back there in Nov)!

I've heard so many say don't get it if you're not an expert and so many say just get it and take it slow. So... I guess I just got it! I will take it slow. But, yes, I will respect the power. Because it's not only a power to go fast, it's a power to kill me.

Thanks for the reply, homie. Yeah. I said 'homie'! haha! I might be 34, but I don't look it (i still get carded for cigarettes).
Congrats on the purchase. If you plan to register it in California once you arrive you must have 7500 miles on it to do so. Otherwise you will be SOL. I'm sure that a member in Cali will be able to lend you the instruments with more than 7500 in order to go through the DMV inspection. Good luck.
