New Ride

Well after sitting on every bike within an hours drive of home, I finally decided on the Yamaha RoadStar 1700.  I sat on everything from Harleys to Victories to all of the Big 4, and lying in bed each night I kept coming back to this bike.  So yesterday I went and filled out the credit app and rode her home in a downpour (it was beautiful sunny and 90 when I left to go to the dealer).  Anyways, snapped a few photos this evening but it was almost 9pm so they aren't great but will give ya the idea.  Hopefully I can get some pics in the sun this weekend.

For now the Busa is staying, we'll see how the whole payment thing works out.

So here we go, the first pic was with the flash on, pic looks good but to many reflections, the rest are without flash, which leaves the pics a little washed for color and clarity.

Hmmmm, the reason why? Most of my riding is done with the wife, and the ride is much more enjoyable when she's comfortable (if ya know what I mean). Really, I just needed something we could ride further on, take some day trips. I can ride the Busa all day with the only problem being my hand goes numb, but she's only good for about 45 minutes or so and she needs off to stretch with each interval getting shorter after that.

So hopefully I can work it all out and keep the busa too, but for me it's more about actually riding than what I'm riding. And I see this putting us up on 2 more often.

nothing wrong with matching a cruiser to a busa. Allows ones to cover any possible hankering...

I would do it myself, but then again I can't think of when I would rather hop on a cruiser...

I traded my Royal Star Tour Deluxe in to get my Busa. I miss the long distance hauling part of it, but to have kept both would have been insanity. It would have been crazy, because I seriously doubt I would ever chose the highway bike over the busa unless I was going two up at least 4 hour ride. And that sort of jaunt just doesn't happen that often. Not often enough to warrant two payments anyway. I'd definately like to have that bike back again but I'll need some serious disposable cash to justify it.

I like your bike, sharp color combo..but then again, I love your busa more..go figure.. lol

I really think you gents are selling your busa short as a sport tourer. Hell-- 4 hours in the saddle-- I spend upwards of 9-11 hours/d and go multiple days. I'm comfy as can be and my 2 up partner is also happy as a clam.

get some decent seats, get an o-ring/throttlemeister, genmar risers, a ST screen, and perhaps a foot peg mod and if your not comfy-- then I don't think the cruiser will do you much good either. If i could only stick in the busa seat for an hour or two, why bother? I mine as well plop my arse down on a liter bike then...

Nice! Vance & Hines Longshots Exhaust pipes sound really good on the road stars, especially with the air box mods.

P.S. Are you going to paint it the same color as the Busa and the Dodge?

Nice bike , I always have liked those bikes. Hope you and your wife enjoy man!

Now THAT'S a different pair! That orange Busa is awesome!

I couldn't see swinging that far to the cruise side. FJR & a Busa for my stable.

That is one sharp looking bike!! Congrats man!!!!

My wife is buggin me to get another cruiser for the exact same reasons.  My Busa will never go though!!!

I'm tossing between the Yamaha and the big Kawi.  The Kawi 2K is HUGE but it rides soooooooo nice!!  I figure, if I'm not on the Busa what difference how big and heavy it is, I might was well be comfy.  Do they make license plate frames that say "I'd rather be riding my Busa"

Very nice looking ride, not too gaudy, very clean lines. I guess I'm lucky that my better half hates and is scared to death of motorcycles, so all there is to worry about pleasing is me! I personally find the busa to be very comfy, especially after coming off a 1k GSX-R1000 that I had for two years.
Enjoy; like you mentioned, it's all about riding, not so much as what you ride!
