New tire selection

OK, so I bought an 06' Busa that has a set of Continental's strapped to it with just under 1K. Back is still good (I don't believe in burn-out's). Front appeared good until I took it too my wrench last night & he ran his hand down the face to find it about as wavy as the Pacific. So...I need to start looking for a new set. I'm 6'3", 250-ish & don't 1/4 mile or frequent tracks. I ride 50 miles 1 way to work @ my 2nd job in TX heat & traffic. I frequent tripple digits (c'mon, it's a freak'n Busa) & need to be able to dart in & out of harms way in an instant. I have 3 kids to get home to, including an infant so like the rest of you I need to get home ASAP & S.A.F.E.. I'd like to get a few miles out of them as well (did I mention THREE JOBS?). I don't have a genie in the bottle or we'd all be rigged, but I do have this access to a forum with a WEALTH of knowledge. My background is in MX & 2 Hour Hare Scrambles so this is all new. Bike isn't nitous equipp'd or charged, but it is modified pretty well. Just changed the counter back to stock against my will for the speedo & MPG's & I'll probably miss that roll-on-to-whiplash reaction. Gotta get this thing done, so please.....HEEEEELP! THNX!

Pirelli Angels or Avon Storm 2 Ultras ate your best bet. Pilot Road 3s and Road Smart 2s are also at the top of the list.

From my dunce stool :cookoo:

Guys been getting good mileage and grip from the Michelin Pilot Road 3's. I ran em for ahwile they are smooth running tires.

+1 to all the above

i normall run Shinko's....but thats because i get them FREE! :) never had a single issue with them

I would firstly take suspension out of the equation and then tyre pressures before I proceed to assume that it is the tyres causing this.

My favorite tire of all time is the Pilot Road 2. I ran a few sets on my last bike, I just installed a set on my Hayabusa, and I'll use them until they are discontinued, at which time I'll move to the PR3.

These have proven to last significantly longer than the other brands I tried, and I have tested them to about 70 mph in heavy rain. The PR3 is supposed to displace more water, but I had no issues in the wet with the PR2.

Thnx for all the input! Looks like I've got some time now. Just got word that I tossed a tooth on 1st gear.:banghead:

I'm guessing poor balance, unequal comp & rebound would chew it up real good. How would you diagnose these issues if your settings were the same on your forks?

currently running pilot road 3's and i think they are pretty great tires. i have probably close to 800 miles and they still look fresh. they are dual compound tires with tread designed to optimize performance in wet conditions. i would recommend them.

Just got Michelin Pilot Road 3s. same as what he said. great tire. i run 40 psi cold. Im not a diehard knee drager at 6'3 320. but it handles wells for me in the corner and is a smooth tire
