To start off I just got an 05 with 4k on the clock and its mint. I put new tires and took it down the road a lil bit yesterday and thought the tranny was messed up, cause when tried to accelerate the bike really didnt move. I realized that it was cause the tire was spinning..lol. My questions are how long to scrub these in without the worry of this happening again ? Dunlop Q2's. And how is this thing to ride, really ? what are the do's and dont's ? The bike just makes me nervous and Ive ridden and owned 600's on up to liters and even a custom chopper with an 110 s&s and the feeling of this is by far nutso. I wanted a street bike that would be good for 2 up and long rides because my wife loves to ride with me and this fit the best for what I wanted..plus I also wanted one.! Just looking for do and donts and the characteristics these are known for...Thanks and appreciate any input.

:welcome: to the oRg  You'll probably be good after that burn out, usually around 100 miles, just remember that if you always go in a strasight line the side patch might be slick after that 100 miles. Great choice for two up riding. The torque monster really kicks in around 4K on so don't throw moma off the back of the bike. It's a bike that you need to get use to, it can surprise you

We ride two up all the time, about 95%. I also run Q-2's and they are great tires. Just give them a few miles to get scrubbed in. Take it easy in turns, takes offs, etc. You will love this bike and she a more than capable two up touring machine. :welcome:

:welcome: to the org. Stay afraid of the bike for first couple hundred miles or so. If your afraid of it you'll be cautious about everythign you do and will slowely learn the bike and your capabilities. It only takes one boost of confidence and a cocky move to learn what this bike can do quicker then your ready to see.

That being said you bought the monster for a reason so go out and have fun with it.. :cheerleader:

:welcome: Welcome and congrats! Be careful grasshopper. This bike can be a very kind back and the next minute smack you hard. Don't be afraid just respect it.

:welcome: to the board...like others have said, respect her and she won't throw you in a ditch :beerchug:
