New to Hayabusa, looking at 2015

Yeah but a 2015 vs 2020 is 5 year difference. This WILL hurt resale more than the price difference currently when he goes to sell in a few years (IF).
...Resale never really goes through my mind...as was said by @Dustin02 , sitting that many years would be on my mind though....I've stored bikes for 5 yrs+ before but it was very meticulously done and documented.

Bike actually just has one exhaust?!? Why would someone do that? Guess that’s it for that bike.
If it had two aftermarket mufflers those would be slipons. Slipons are just mufflers and midpipes only that fit to the stock collector and headers. Slipons are mainly to drop the considerable weight of the stock mufflers and they make a few more ponies with a tune. They sound a lot better than stock. If you're buying an aftermarket exhaust, I always suggest a full system over slipons because the price is often not a huge amount more for a full system plus it reduces weight a good amount more than slipons and makes more power than slipons. A couple full systems offer dual mufflers. The single is the race look and single has chain maintenance advantages too. You outta have a tune in that bike since it's a full system. Does it have a flash or a Power Commander or both?

...Not sure about “hump” where rear seat is. I’ll find out. Would the single exhaust be a deal breaker?
I'd prefer a single exhaust over duals and definitely have no use for a complete stock exhaust. Google pics of the Hayabusa and you'll see the hump. I would insist on the dealer getting a hump for you.

How much is a full system these days ?
I haven't checked but they were about $1500 to $2000 when I looked years back.

You are probably safe running a full system exhaust on stock fueling. I never felt comfortable enough to even try it but that's what I have heard. The exhaust flows better so it's possible you could have lean spots in the stock fueling. A Power Commander allows you to program the fueling for the exhaust you have. If you have a Power Commander, it probably would be under the passenger seat or somewhere on the LH side under the fairings. An ECU flash would optimize fueling and a lot more but you wouldn't be able to tell if the ECU was flashed by looking at it. Maybe the tuner puts a sticker on the ECU?? A certified shop should be able to tell if the ECU was flashed with diagnostic equipment.

For the price, I'd buy a new one. Matter of fact, the busa is a cooler bike but it's outdone in power by the 2012 to current Kaw ZX-14R. Get that if you're looking for the top hyperbike. It looks doubtful Suz will ever improve the current Hayabusa. If you need any more info on that, check out http://zx14ninjaforum.com/forums.cfm?conferenceid=3856F3B6-1372-66AE-3B11303B4076051F

The busa is a better bike than the Gen1 ZX-14. Never rode a Gen2 ZX-14 and doubt it's much different in handling than a Gen1 but it is heavier. It makes a bonified 190 hp at the wheel stock. Throw pipe on and you got over 200 hp. Wheelies like a mofo in third gear.

I'm feeling the burn coming on. ....:fire:

If one were striving for 'street dominance' the list is long these days...any liter bike will dominate the Busa and the H2 platform is the bike to beat these days.

ZX14R is more powerful but is in the same boat as the Busa, the liter bikes are beating it and it's days are numbers as well.

IF Suzuki decides to get back into the game (and I highly doubt it) they have a big hill to climb.

Street dominance is relative. If you want to race a newer literbike from 60 mph to 180, you'll probably loose if you're on a 14 or a busa. If you go all the way to the top, you might just pull ahead before its done. That has been the case since 2008. If you want instant power and brutal acceleration from a dig, a hyperbike always outdoes a literbike. The busa and 14 are the bike for drag racing. That's the kind of power I'm able to enjoy without worrying about going to jail. I rarely do over 100 anymore. The supercharged H2 seems to have great power low and high but I've seen it get it's o_O handed to it by naturally aspirated literbikes so I'm not sold on that bike although I love the way it looks without the newfangled touring bags they put on it.

Yes, all the busas and ZX-14 are similar. For all around riding, I think the larger and more powerful hyperbikes cover all the bases the best. They're good touring, commuting and sport riding. They're not cut out for highly competitive road racing but for drag and LSR, I would have nothing less.

Anything I can do to help my brother.

Rubb.

So I went to the Harley dealership and test rode the bike. Wow!! So fun. My biggest impressions were how comfortable it was and how smooth the power was throughout. Of course I wasn’t able to get anywhere near it’s potenial, but we did get out on highway and had some fun. Right now they are at 10,600$ which is down 600$. I told them I was at 9500$ firm, so we will see.

As far as getting a new/old 2018, I’d love to, but there are no Busas in Arkansas that I can find!! There are plenty in Dallas(4.5 hrs) and a few in memphis(3 hrs or so).
I think with the mods to this one, plus the low miles(800), 9500 is fair.
Thank you

Hope it works out for you. The distance won't matter if you find the bike you want.

The trouble with new 'Busas is that they haven't been available in blue lately... that 2015 is really striking because of the colour. Gorgeous.

Plus it has the right exhaust upgrade (Suzuki + Yoshimura = All is well in the universe).

And it already had 1000 break-in miles so you can ride it home WOT. :super:

I agree, the blue is really nice. It’s one of the reasons I looked at it at the beginning. I talked to the technician at Harley today, and he said they didn’t look it over because they aren’t trained in that engine. That’s fine tho. He was honest and I appreciated that. So I will go pick it up Saturday. Can’t wait. Now I have to go buy sportbike gear and donate my Harley stuff!! Lol
Thank you for your help.
I’ll post pics when I bring the bike home.

Wait ... so you made the deal and bought the bike???
:welcome: to the forum!!

Lol! I of course will post too many pics. Dealer does not have passenger seat cowl, so is my best bet ordering from Suzuki or eBay, Amazon etc. And just for my curiosity, what is the hp increase I will have with the full yoshi exhaust?

Simple bolt on after market exhaust w/o a tune will net you maybe 7-10 more ponies no matter which system you go with. Slipons even less. Coming from a slow bike what you need to remember is the Busa has about a HUNDRED more ponies already. Full face helmet, armored gear including gloves, jacket and if not pants, at least knee protection. Boots too of course, no lace ups. Motorcycle gear.com is a great place to window shop for gear, purchase too. Good luck with then new bike.

Congrats on the new busa! You can ride it 4 hours if someone will drive your car back. Stop a few times. You will probably need to not being used to the sportbike riding position. I got cramps in my hamstrings the first couple years and that was 12 years ago. Now it's totally natural.

If you trailer it, the U-haul motorcycle trailer works great. Empty the fuel tank before loading it is so much easier to handle. Get a set of Canyon Dancer straps and use ratchet straps on the bar ends and the cargo hooks in back. A 4' x 8' sheet of board with a couple 2x4s screwed to it will keep the tires centered. I went way overboard when I trailered my bikes 170 miles. No problems though. The worse was when I hit a small hole turning at a light. It was about 5 mph but I saw the whole bike snap to and fro. That trailer is not the smoothest ride. Don't let any a-hole pressure you into making rash decisions whe you pull the trailer.

Check out this thread. Final messages, p2 are the most important.

Honestly, I'd just ride it if possible. Avoid all the hassle of what kind of hitch, straps, keeping it from tipping over....it will drive you nuts if you never did it before. I've seen my bikes fall three times and I'm not letting it happen in a trailer.
