Newb Question: Is it really that difficult?

(900Z1 @ Jun. 20 2007,07:04) Ride double on the busa for 100 miles or so , then ride solo. I rode with my wife on the back,( felt like a 55 gallon drum of water on back) then I rode solo, thought I was on a 600 after the water ride..
Doood! Don't let yer wife see this post!

Water weighs 8lbs/gallon!

8lbs * 55 = 440lbs!!!

(fasttoys1 @ Jun. 20 2007,10:18) I only notice a problem in "normal" corners at "normal"speeds because I "may" not travel at normal speeds I much as I should. The only reason I have a problem sometimes is "ME". I plan my entry as if I'm going twice as fast and have to re adj. my line, oops. The handles fine, I'm usually the problem if things are off. Maybe I need to practice riding slower. Sound familar anyone?
And I thought it was only me

(omslaw @ Jun. 20 2007,10:47) No problems at all cornering. I've scraped my fairing at a trackday.

With her on the back my bike runs better than solo. Completely lost my chicken strips first time out with her. The bike really felt good.

I ride the hell out of my busa through the turns. I only have high speed corners around here, but the busa handles them in stride. I hand my 3 buddies on their 1000rr's their asses when ever we push hard through the turns. Check out this busa, it was built to road race until it was banned.

Then you need to have someone assist you in setting up your suspension properly. I suspect the sag is WAY off.

I don't have a verbal response just the below picture (and it turns nice at slow speeds) unless you are at the track everyday, it will be just fine on the streets:

(VaBusa @ Jun. 19 2007,14:34) It's not as nimble as the smaller litre bikes, but it can take a turn...we've got guys on here that do track days on the Busa, drag knees on the Dragon at Deal's Gap...it is more known for it's speed on the drag strip by many, but it corners like any other ride on 2 wheels

I would think you'd be fine given your experience...you just need to use caution when you first get on, just wait until you're used to the throttle response because it is immediate in every gear...it's a fun bike to ride, no worries by most that move on to one from other motorcycles

Welcome to the oRg!!

Good points.

It's been over a year and I still get 'bucked' sometimes when flipping from 1st to 2nd if I'm not smooth. The bike has POWER on tap... that is a fact!

Just go at your own Pace. I know I am. This Bike NEVER DISAPOINTS ME !! I Just wish this bike was around when I was about 100 Pounds Lighter

I think you should ask yourself why you want a 'Busa. It's all about versatility IMHO.

If you want knife-edge handling (and a seat to match) then go for the GSX1000R or something similar. If you're tall, ride two-up and/or you want a comfortable ride for touring as well as blistering acceleration, go for the 'Busa.

On smaller bikes you'll be swapping gears all the time to keep them in the power band, on a 'Busa you just twist the throttle and it's always there.

If you like to customize or drag race, there's a ton of aftermarket stuff that will keep you happy.

So, are you a racer, canyon carver, cruiser, street fighter or poser?

i was actually going to post this same question, having owned mine for 3000 miles and my first "race" bike i was wondering if i was missing something the smaller bikes might have. i began to concern myself with quicker turn in and a bud of mine who races said i probably am not puting enough pressure on the bars quick enough. as far as lean...i've leaned over the farthest i ever have and i know there's more to go because guys on here scape parts.

I was wondering about that comment myself. I ride doubles now aand again, and the Busa doesn't really seem to realize there's another person on the bike.
