Nitrogen in your tires??

Check your air pressure once in a while and you're good to go.

:D

Yes NASCAR has been using nitrogen for years. Its" dry" air and therefore more consistant when the tires heat up and outside temps change. When regular compressed air is used it gets heated up as tire temps go up and then the tire pressures go up as the tire heats up. It does have benefits in racing but if ya gotta pay for it street riding I dont think it worth it.

Some of you guys need to do some research. There are many advantages to running nitrogen over air in tires. Are the benefits worth $10/tire, on the street probably not. As its becoming more popular, places are starting to infate with nitrogen for free if you buy your tires from them. Take advantage of that if its offered.

$10 per tire?????? Never saw it that high. The highest i've ever seen it is $4 per tire.

Agreed with advantages. I mentioned those earlier in the thread.

Some places are/were charging $10/tire. I would agree that those shops are just out to get your money.

I wouldn't turn it down if it were offered, especially for free, however, for a tire that only lasts 4,000 miles at best anyway, I'm not going to go out of my way to find it or buy it.

If it's not free and your not racing then just get regular moist air.

If every little thing counts then dry air or nitrogen or other refrigerant.

skip air and nitro, use helium instead:laugh:

Funny yes but they tried that on the SR-71 and found it moved throught the tire too quikly. Can you saay flat tire?

I like the idea of the nitogen staying in the tire for longer but they made this cool thing called a tire pressure gauge.

Personaly if my bike is gong from -18 to 120 deg. in a mater of minutes, me thinks I have bigger problems then tire pressure.
