Nitrogen in your Tires?

What do you guys think about running Nitrogen in your tires for a cross country trip going to hit all kinds of weather and temps is it worth it? I heard they run cooler and maintain pressure better than regular air.

I run it in my cay tires and it is great. The shop i go to does unlimited refill and top offs as long as its the same tire. I go in once a month and have them checked and topped off if needed. Rarely drops a psi. So if you plan on maintaining a set psi like 40/40 I would say go for it

If you have easy access to a pump (nearby, free, open most of the time), then switching is worth it. If NOT, then may not be worth the hassle.

Personally, I have an air compressor at home and top off pressures once a month. My one SUV with nitrogen in it is a PITA because the single nitrogen station in town is NOT nearby :banghead:

The benefit is that air leaks through the tire faster than pure nitrogen, and I believe it's slightly better in other ways. Me ; I have a small compressor in my garage and check my tires about every three months at very little cost. I bought the compressor because I change my tires. Just not worth the money to me.

I ride a little more than some, but to be honest with you ..... If I never added air to my tires I'd be just fine between tire changes.

Nitrogen is used in airplane tires because it holds a more constant pressure then air when affected by temperature extremes. In theory if you put 40 psi in your tires it will maintain that pressure better than air because the temperature won't affect it//as much//.
