normal riding.... what rpm do you shift at?

This is a tough question to answer, and I am surprised at how often it comes up. For me, it really depends on how fast I am accelerating.

Slow cruzin' - 4Kish
Normal accel - 5-6Kish
Getting on freeway accel - 7-8Kish
Bat outta hell accel - 9K-redlinish

But I rarely look at the tach...more a feel and ear thing.

That sounds about right for me too.

Mostly 5-6k...for some serious twisties it's gonna be much higher. I prefer to use the torque of the bike and not shift too much...but you have to stay in the power band.

same here. there are times i skip a couple gears altogether after running 1st up a bit.
