Official mileage of pirelli angels

To innocent bystanders, if they are interested, I will conclude by simply saying, that the usual approach is to try and wear the rubber evenly,
with weight, riding style, speed and temperatures and pressures being the major players in how fast the rubber disappears.
When the middle wears a lot more than the sides, maybe a tire with a harder compound in the middle should get a look in.
That is the reason 2CT's were invented.
Of course if the Captain knows all about this, then my initial remarks were totally unnecessary and to be disregarded and withdrawn, Your Honour....

See now your just trying to be a turd... There is no way a dual compound 2ct tire would have provided for the 6500 miles we put on the trip......

You seem to have it all figured out though, good luck with "Having all the aswers" with no data to back it up... Speculation is not always a good thing..

Pilot Power 2CT's are not Sport Touring tires. They don't have harder compound in the middle. They are Pilot Powers (which has soft compound in the middle) with 20% softer compound on the shoulders. I weigh 180-185 and when I had the R1, the rear wears out in less than 5K miles. If you're talking about the one that has a harder compound in the middle, then you're talking about the Michelin Pilot Roads and the Pilot Road 2 not the Pilot Power 2CT's.

My 2ct's were toast in less than 2500 miles without any burnouts. Worse tires in the world to have on straight roads in FL. They are great for roads with some twists in them but the centers wore out too quick. The Angles have lasted the longest with enough grip to run on the track.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Mine lasted almost 5K miles because the R1's lighter than the Busa.

OK, by popular decree 2CT does not mean dual compound and the hard bit is not in the middle or whatever. The amount of rubber expertise as represented here is as varied as personal experience or lack thereof.
ST or not ST, the rubber on all bikes should be ST unless the majority of the time is spent on tracks. If you want maximum distance, go slower and use the hardest compounds.
The latest technology is to try to broaden the spread of the load as well as to improve the quality of the compounds so that one could conceivably do a bit of both.
Frankly, if you are not talking about the M5 and SportSmart (superseding the RoadSmart) or such a duel purpose rubber, then it doesn't matter what you use
because the road will eventually lead to posts on forums with questions like; "..why did this happen???"
As for TURDs, sometimes, the smell comes from right next to your own nose.
Stay cool.

i've now gone through quite a few rear Angel's and am consistently getting 6000 miles give or take a couple hundred...for comparison, i got a little over 4000 miles out of the OEM tire (if my memory serves me well) and between 2000-2500 out of Pirelli Corsa III's which i only put on if i'm going to be playing pretty hard :beerchug:

No kidding Cap. I am putting Q-2's on the bike for the trip. I may have to change them when we get home, but I know I can trust the tire and they should make the trip out and back. I may try the angels next, this bike will never see the track.

The Q2's will get us out there and back but not much more...

Thats all I want, plus a fully planted tire I dont have to worry about on the Cherhola. Lets just say I was not happy the the BT021's the last time we rode over to Tellico Plains.

I have about 4000 on my angels and they are still at or just above half tread and I dont ride like a grandma! CSS course, couple miscellaneous courses, the dragon and all that and a bunch of other fun miles.

Running a hard tire like the angels on the dragon is not the best ideas if you are riding hard.

Yes, but I have  I have taken the tires to every millimeter of tread and full lean and the angels have done nothing but right for me

Obviously not saying they are anywhere what a Q2 is though. I want those, I just cant afford to be replacing tires so often

Angels do just fine for me :)

+1 that is why i always run a Pirelli Corsa III on the front...the Angel will spin loose a tad on the Dragon or even on the Skyway...just ask Macon, he was running stickier tires since he had trailered over and i had ridden from IL, my rear was getting loose coming out of every corner to keep up with him  it is pretty predictable so i just have to be aware of what tire i have on the rear since i switch back and forth between the Angel and Corsa III depending on where and how i'm riding

Hows the grip on the angel? I'm running a Q2 and love it but I'm not a knee and wouldn't mind more miles out of a tire. When I got my busa it had crap cheap tires that felt like I was riding on ice all the time don't ever want to feel that again

I still run the Avon storms for trips. 8,000 miles out of the set and decent grip with the multiple compound. But I'm old, fat and slow so that may make a difference. Anyone new read a magazine article about tires over the past year and a half
