OK Christians  Round 3 ~DING~ ~DING~

Yah, my wife had me search for those lego sets a few months back...............unfortunately the "reverend" who markets this stuff is only interested in making fun of the Christians.  I'm with WWJD on the "DaVinci Code" junk............people don't understand what the word "novel" means anymore.....they think it means "big book" when it really means "long fictitious book".  Anytime someone starts a book with "Fact:blah, blah, blah....." but then fails to include any kind of footnotes or references, ..........you better question it!!!!

Rev....................thanks for bringing this lego mania up again!!!  Some of the scenes are pretty funny!!!  Kids would love them!!!!!

Yeah, a Big book just written by Some Men... A Novel, Long Fictitious book, Some accurate dates, some Geographic and historical accuracy but otherwise just a big book? Sounds a lot like the Bible. (Sorry Sorry, I couldn't resist... Especially with the "Fact and Footnotes" thing...)

The Lego Thing was pretty funny. Yeah WWJD the parts I thought might be offensive were some of the tongue in cheek lego guys and most of the selected bits from the Old Testament... While they may be accurate, when read outta context they do start to sound pretty damned funny...

I was initially thinking that the Brick Testament was mostly there to poke fun. But after checking on a couple of the passages depicted, they are accurate, just funny. However, I found myself reading and studying more bible verse the other night with my wife than I have in years. So the Lego's while they may be intended to poke fun, will prolly actually get a lot more people thinking about and reading the Bible...than would have otherwise. Not a bad thing then probably...

All I know is that according to "The Da Vinci Code", that pic of the Last Supper is wrong...

Yeah, the quest for knowledge leads me to odd places...

Who would have thought that I'd pick apart a lego set?!

You all know "The Divinci Code" is actually fiction, right?  If you don't think so, I can send you a link about the government using UFO technology to build universal soldiers and abductions hypnotically blaming UFOs as cover for inhumane experiements. Fiction, folks.  I only mention it because Code is a best seller and aparently scaring a bunch a people.   :p

The verses I read seemed accurate.  I'm sending the link to most of my friends!!!

... and then going to Toys-R-Us to get my '10 commandments Lego set'

Ummm, yeah, I seemed to remember hearing that it was just a book WWJD...as for scaring me? No, I'm incredibly open to all that people have to say and offer up, especially when it comes to religion...it's up to me to take it all in and decide what I believe, taking careful steps to not tell others that I believe they are wrong...hrmmm...

I could go in to every interesting fact that I found in that book and try tearing down others beliefs, but that's certainly not why I mentioned it, nor would I ever believe I could change anyone's mind nor want to...

I am in the middle of reading the Da Vinci Code and I do find it quite amazing to go back through some of Da Vinci's artwork and see what's really there...that's all...so, even a LEGO set has me scratching my head and thinking "hey, that's not right"...it's not a slam on anyone's religious beliefs my dear...

What is really cracking me up, is that a book that is "So Completely Full Of Fabrications" has the Catholic Church up in arms to write books discrediting it, to send instructions to Bishops and others with instructions on what to say, To have the protestant churches and their priests and Pastors all writing away, pointing out, inaccuracy, while basing their position on a book of their own full of errors and interpretations... Just search the web folks, attempts to discredit the Author are numerous and plentiful, all claiming "TRUTH"... Hell, they are all fugging nuts. A "Truth" to one is a falsehood to another. When it comes to "Belief" it's all in your head... No it really is... What one believes to be true, is true and real for that person... a fact. For another, that truth, that belief could be totally incorrect, and wrong...

Also read Foucalt's Pendulum, by Umberto Eco. A little more challenging of a read according to my Bro, but well worth the time...

But I'll tell ya, the Church really has exposed it's tender underbelly here. Freaking out the way they have in regards to a "Fictional" Novel...

Way to go Rev, in the bible with the woman! Funny, but I did the same thing - looking up some of the verses.... seeing even those stupid lil lego guys acting out scenes, spells out the meaning more to me than just reading the words of verses. Hey! Someone should make a comic book bible!! [not to offend any hardcore religious folk] that would reach millions of people.

Books, fiction, history, churches, legos.... it ALL boils down to practical daily application, and it works better than all the psychiatrists and L.Ron Hubbards combined. And it works for everyone. It's the ORIGINAL self help book, even if the help is from somewhere else. ;) There has to be a baseline structure for everyone and that's another thing the bible does. You can't live on this planet without being affected in some way by it's defining morals. Like it or not, it's everyone's underpining structure... even if you've never heard of a bible before your life has been carrved by it. Without solid structure, things fall apart. Example will be anything that is currently disintegrating due to P.C. [insert most news items here]
Darn it, Rev, you got me rolling again!!! hahhahahahaa

VaB, I meant that more generally than aimed at you. I've read too much of people BELIEVING media [books]. I hate that when that happens!

If you want some GREAT OFFENSIVE sacrelige, go rent "The Life Of Brian" by Monty Python.

Oh man, your not kidding there... Funny stuff though, Life of Brian kicked butt, Though the Holy Grail was right up there as well...
