Org full of Prude mother hens?

[Projekt]

Somebody(a visiting friend) told me that the ORG seems like it is populated by a bunch of conservative prude mother hen types and internet bully/heroes.
I just had to share because I honestly think alot of it is true.
So who are you?
Mother Hen?
Bully/Hero?
Level headed contributor?

Why would it be so obvious and immediate for my friend to see this type of thing? He said it was boring even though he is a rider. He also said that people have lost their edge...
But, you can't beat the cooperative mentalities existant here.
You guys and gals have helped more people than you could ever imagine so I'm gonna go ahead and keep you....
Friends are allowed to have opinions... Even wrong ones.

You wanna cuss and talk tough? Do it in person. It's lame on the internet. I'd rather hear about bikes than smack talk and bragging. And most folks that over-run their mouths on the internet do so only because there is no way that they'd do it in person...

I personally have enough mentality to express myself intelligently without the use of profanity. I was taught from an early age to express yourself in a way which would bring honor upon your family. Sorry if I don't cuss enough for those on other sites. I guess they really don't have to come here unless they need a break from all the mindless ignorant rantings common on other less civil sites.

I love the org and the people here are top notch.

I guess putting this in perspective I often think what it would be like to turn the TV on during a presidential speech and hear the president speak like some of the other sites we've all seen or visited. Or in a courtroom where the judge moderates & hands down a sentence using profanity to express his/her feelings. An elementary school teacher using profanity to keep his/her class in line.  I could go on and on but I think most get it.... Everything in life has its time and place.

Profanity has its place... I curse, swear, mutter obscenities, scream imprecations and defile the english language... I don't need to do it here though. So tell your friend to fug off!

Everything has its place and this site is family oriented and Our supreme overlord has set a standard that should be upheld and honored.
Your friend is entitled to his/her opinion.

Your friend is the type that thrives on drama. Tell him to take it to his mama.

We have very little drama here unless it's real-life drama when we're trying to help someone out.

If you think anyone has lost their edge here, have him go out track riding with BA Busa or Charlesbusa or Lamb Busa or a dozen other guys on here. That will give an edumacation to be sure. What is said on the track, rubber side down, is far more potent than any crap that gets spewed on this or any other board.

+1 on the internet cussing. Mostly just a bunch of wannabees who's momma isn't watching. Granted, cussing has it's place but excessive swearing and lewd discussion has no place on a bike board. Turns it into something else. Look at the labusas board. Useless as far as bikes are concerned.

The sad part for those that draw that conclusion about this site is that they'll miss out on a great group of people, tons of help and advice and when you hit rock bottom, I've never seen such a diverse group of people from all over the world come together to help a fellow member in need, whether that's in the form of thoughts and prayers, money, parts, advice...  

To an outsider, this site LOOKS tame...you're not bombarded with hatred and porn, you don't see people bashing new members...it's a site that embraces all in the hopes of expanding our little world here for the better...we all meet because of the love of the Busa, but I feel we all become friends for so many other reasons...

I guess I AM the mother hen here, but I wouldn't trade that title for anything...I'm proud of this site and what Doug's wanted it to be; thrilled to be a small part of that...I never hesitate to tell others about visiting here, and yes, even my Mother knows about you guys/gals and all that you do for a fellow rider here...

One of a kind...never found another site like it...

Absolutely. I keep the yapper in check on the internet, but in person I can keep pace with a grizzled merchant marine if need be.

I'm Ok with everything your friend said, if they can find another exciting site then thats great news.. HOWEVER... I don't look for excitement on the Internet, I look for conversation, information and friendship. I think this site covers the latter 3.......

I have been known to get a little out of hand (Meet and Greet) and I have thrown a couple of unacceptable words around, but it was in person where I could adjust my behavior to the group I was with....

Excitement on the Internet just sounds wrong......

Maybe I am stange, but consider this. I spend my days yelling at people to move quickly. I berate people for not doing thier jobs or doing them poorly. I yell at officers for not leading thier people and I yell at enlisted people for not supporting thier officers. I scream at suppliers for not feeling my pain, I scream at maintainers for not understanding the pain.
I do not get a long with my boss. My wife is exactly the same type of personality that I am, so the person who gets the words in is the one who starts speaking the earliest.

If that is my real life, WHY WOULD I WANT IT HERE?
