I’d always thought my hip pain was actually an issue with the actual hip. After all the radiology I was sent to an ortho surgeon to inject cortisone into my left hip using a live ultra sound to guide the needle…wasn’t looking forward to it. But, after speaking with that doctor he thought my hip was ok and instead thought the muscle ‘strap’ that is in contact with the sciatic nerve is what’s been causing pain. Soooo, he sent me to a surgeon that deals with the piriformis problems and could give me cortisone directly into the muscle.
And that’s what happened, three shots actually w/o anesthesia right into my left cheek! The damn needle was 4” long. Right when the weather is dropping into the 80s too. It’s sore as hell and I’m rotating ice and heat. Apparently the relief, if any, can take up to a week. It’s supposed to relieve the inflammation that causes the muscle to jam the nerve. So we’ll see.
