Of the 32 members who replied to the age question, not counting Deke, the 12 year old who steals his Dad's Busa, the average age is 39.5.
This compares to the average Harley-Davidson riders' age of 83.7, and the average GSXR750 riders' mental age of 4.3.
My guess is that the average age of all motorcyclists in the U.S. would be around 30.
Why is our group so significantly older?
My take on that: The Busa costs more than the average bike. It also costs a lot more to insure...especially if you're young. It also was an unknown quantity at the time you had to order to get one, which requires that the buyer have a little extra cash to gamble...and the older you are (generally) the more cash you have. And finally, the Hayabusa is an inherently dangerous bike for any rider who lacks experience...i.e. younger people...so a lot of older, more experienced speed junkies were attracted to the bike and its danger quotient.
P.S. Little Deke was a fabrication on my part to see if I could get a rise out of anyone. Apparently, BUDDA is the only one who cares whether America's sub-teen youth kills themselves on stolen motorcycles. The rest of you are just too old and jaded!
