Overboring block

Thanks Jay, I now see that I had ignition timing mixed up with rod ratio. I guess the length of the rod doesn't matter as far as leverage on the crank as long as the ignition timing is correct. Your explanation of a shorter rod causing the piston to leave TDC sooner was interesting, I hadn't thought of that. I also didn't think of the difference between an automotive engine and a motorcycle engine (read RPM) and the abilty for the car guys to get away with using a shorter rod. One question though, would a turbocharged/supercharged bike be able to use a shorter rod due to combustion being quicker when under boost? Or will you have to advance the timing with a shorter rod in a boosted engine to the point of detonation?

Jay: Jesse said he'll be giving you a call soon. He said if the Titainum Retainers ARE tighter, he'll be buying sets from You. He talked about how the stock ones were real loose and not good. Expect His call soon!

On the Stroke subject: If I were going to Stroke My Busa at all in the days a head, I think all I would probably look at doing is about 1 or maybe 2mm only. Since I'm not planning on running in a regular basis I don't think I'll need to do that.(stroke)

Stroked as it is...I'll agree with that.

Jay, It's good to know that NEEDED Performance parts are starting to make there way to the scene for the Hayabusa.

Now We just need some good Billit replacement parts to deal with compression.

Yes I did Hurt the Block. There is a Hole in the #1 cylinder.

Also, I was able to get a New Block. It's finished. Ready to go.

Jay, Have you done any research on these Web Cam's?

Do You know what kind of Hp gains there looking to get with them?

We have given them grind numbers for My two different applications but I would think that it would take more than one Engine Builders request before they would start putting them into a production volume.

Those Numbers You posted are a little different from what were planning on useing.(close but different)

Thanks Jay, I learn a lot from you,,,,,and yes, all the APE parts I've purchased and used have performed flawlessly. By the way, the TDC locators APE came out with are nice too. The large knurled end is a nice feature....Thomas G.

The Web numbers were faxed to me last week by Web for inclusion in our new catalog. We have not sold one yet.

I believe these are only a couple of the grinds they will have once people really get into these motors. I do know that a 1350+ motor with the Busas valve size would want more cam than .395 lift. Perhaps that is all that will fit on the stock tappet with a standard base circle lobe.

Do you want to part with the damaged block??

Jay

Turbo;

Actually the rod length does have an effect on leverage. That why in is preferable to have that 90° angle at the moment of max combustion.

As for supercharged motors, I don't have much experience with gas burning blown motors, but I do that Elmer trett was a firm believer in short rod ratios in his fuelers. But then they never ran much over 11,000 ( unless the drive belt broke :> )

Frank. The retainers are tight. Did you hurt a block with your project. Is it unusable? Is it available?

Jay

Frank;

I don't want to salvage it, I want to measure it. Would rather not go into much more detail than that. Is it available.

Jay
