Passing another bike

It's never OK to pass in the same lane, and I never would. And if I caught up with someone that did that to me, I'd share some select words with them.

All I can say is wow. That is someone looking to meet the Reaper. More than likely it will be of their own doing and no one will have to lift a finger. Person like that, I would want to just kick them in the jewels and get comfy to watch the suffering.

Is this not also called lane splitting? I know that is is legal only in california and every other state I believe its called reckless driving.

Lane splitting is riding between two lanes of very slow moving, or completely stopped traffic.
Things are different in California. You try that here and some good 'ol boy will "accidentally" throw the contents of his Red Man spit cup out the window at the very instant your going by.

No way. It is way to easy to have an accident that way. You never know what the over rider is going to do. They might not even know you are behind them and hit you as you try to pass them. I know sometimes when I'm riding I will be all alone on the road then look back to see another bike right behind me.

Hey Fellas... Wanted to see what the general opinion is about passing another bike in the same lane. Is it ok for another rider to pass in the same lane? Some dude screamed passed on a gixxer probably about 6-12" from my handlebar in the same lane. It scared the s%$t out of my fiancee(he had shorty pipes). This happened to me the other day while riding 2-up on the DC capital beltway. I was going about 85mph crusing along a little faster than traffic. I was pretty pissed but knew I'd have to ride pretty stupid to catch this fool and I'm just not willing to that riding 2-up. Thoughts???

An A-hole. Happened to me and I was pissed. If I would have went after him and beat the crap out of him "I" would be in trouble with the Law. :banghead:

If they wave you by maybe. But most likely NO NOT EVER!!!!

I had a HD do that to my wife and I last year; did not make me happy.

I get alot of people that will come up and want to ride side by side with me, i check my mirrors but every now and then one will sneak in. I'll speed up or change lanes make it known i dont want them next to me.

There are 2 people i will ride side by side with, 1 is my brother and 2 is my friend yvette, only people i trust being in the same lane as me :beerchug:

Not cool at all,i had a car (bmw)blow by me in my lane once ,boy was i mad,i tried to catch up(i was on my harley),all i could think was how i was going to handle the situation once i caught up to him(thats when the situation starts to become dangerous, not consentrating on the road at high speeds),the bas... got away, needless to say he got away.IM ashamed at myself on how i reacted, but stuppid moves like that one will generally bring out the worst in me,it was the begining of the riding seasonso my skin thickens as the season progresses:laugh:but true. These jackasses come out of nowhere.

Nope. When I was a brand new rider going along on my then new BKing, I had a guy buzz me at about 120mph in my lane. If I had moved a bit in my lane which I always do, it would have killed me. I punched it up to 90 but he was still pulling easily away so I went back to 60. He could have killed me quick as I had no idea he was coming. He had no idea that I move around in my lane a lot, heck I still do!:moon: He ASSUMED I would keep it straight and narrow........

Gpmo and i just got back from the Black Hills. we rode behind a group of 5-7 riders going 15-20 in a 45mph zone for 40min. :banghead: we stopped 2 or 3 times to let them get ahead, i did almost everything i could to get them to wave me around. i crowded them a little, i flashed my lights, i did everything but lay on the horn and flip them off.
riding abreast in SD is legal! but i wont force a pass in the same lane when the rider ahead of me is swerving down the middle of the road at 15mph.
i finally found a spot that we could both get around, and well  double yeller or not, :pullhair: i just couldn't take it any more!:race:

:poke: i'd rather cross a double yellow to pass safely, than force a pass in the same lane on a rider that only puts 200mi a year on their bike!:rulez::whistle:
