One thing HD did/does well is preserve their heritage...I went to an HD factory in York PA and it had a museum in it. The curator said HD has always set aside one copy of each bike to preserve and display.

There were brand new HD bikes from each model line and these bikes are constantly moved to other museums in order to keep interest in going to the museum. He told us to come back in 6 months and there would be new bikes on display.

All the bikes had miles on them only from the early years when they pushed them around to be put on display, now they use lifts. There was a 1912 HD there with 2 miles on it.

They are tuff lookin' bikes, but if they have major issues, fug em. Perhaps thats why he went out of business. Rubb.

Well, HD stopped supplying engines so he went to Rotax Austria...they were more powerful than the HD engine but more problematic....lots of electrical gremlins much like most things of German design that get old.....

The old Buells with the HD engines had good torque and handled pretty well but they were expensive and being left behind by every other motorcycle brand.
