Places to stay suggestions

I would like to stay in insurance side but i do have body side which i can fall back on. which helps, but have not seen what pay structure there is for body repairers, would have to investigate and check what the guys normally offer.

Well if i cant make the US i will look at Canada, at least i could come fetch my parts if i stayed in Toronto, sure be cheaper than having them shipped to SA.
I have family in Toronto. It a great city but expensive. Alot of people have moved to the suburbs. Winters are very cold there but the summer is really nice. Like any metro city, there are good parts and bad parts. You would have to get a turbo for your bike since Richard isn't to far away from there.

Will have to see if i can import my bike, dont want to have to sell it after alll i have done to it. Which would be a crying shame if i had to

Heres my advice, stay the heck out of Michigan. Michigan = no work, high crime, bad taxes, stupid laws, 6 month riding season, high cost of living if not in the city...........come to think of it what the hell am I still doing living there.

My sister is in Atlanta, the population there is huge but I know the job market is better. It is a huge college town, (theres like 6 in the city alone). Lots of cars, lots of traffic = lots of body repair shops.

I heard that Tenessee and kentucky have good economical plans and cost of living is cheap. Be aware though that some places with low cost of living also means low paying jobs. Not always but usually.

Good luck bro.

No problem. Like someone stated earlier there are tons of articles on the web about best places to live for various reasons. Check them out.

You looking at building a house, renting or buying ? how much land do you want? City or in the country? I have land in Tennessee and a home for sale in Tampa, Flordia.. ( just options ).

PS Lets be honest too, what is your race? There are certain places you dont want to be if you are the wrong color( race) .. I didnt mean bike race:) Serious this is a factor too... With my southern slang I sure wouldnt want to get caught in the wrong area and Visa-versa.. ( just being honest) this also needs to be a factor.. And if you can do paint and body work you can work anywhere..

Yeah i understand, its caucasian, am busy with ASE to see if my Body repairer certificate from SA would be accepted in the US or would i need to do one of the ASE tests. My best mate is moving from the UK to Tennessee to be close to his wifes folks, her folks stay in Chattanooga, plus i would have to rent first, until we could find our feet.

also consider your lifestyle and what you want. I lived in NC for 4 years. It was nice at first but eventually I felt like I was on permanent vacation. Coming from the NorthEast I couldn't adjust to the slower pace of things.

A good buddy of mine from SA used to live in PA, then moved to TN, now in AZ. He's dying to get back over to the East coast. Says he wishes he never left PA. He liked TN for the ridding. He liked have a house with some land sorta secluded but still close to Philly (metro area with international airport).

Well going to have to check if i can get in first then i can decide on where to go, but have a few places and ideas.
thanks everyone for the advice

I'm going to put my vote in for Texas. 9+ months of riding weather (even though all the roads are straight and flat), no state income tax, jobs and economy aren't has hard hit as other areas, low housing prices, etc.

As for the crime rate, it really depends on where you live. Down around the Mexican border is pretty scary right now, but Austin and Dallas are okay. Well, we haven't had a problem.

Yeah Texas does seem to tick all the boxes so far, plus some good tuners in the area. Not to forget the home of Texas Mile at Beeville. Think my minds almost made up for Texas, been looking at Austin. If anyone can give me a heads up on the areas to stay in or around Austin, and what to avoid, i would greatly appreciated it.

Colorado is great IMHO. It ranked highly for great places to live If you are an active person. There is year round activities from hiking, bicycle, camping, climbing, snowmobile , ski , four wheel, atv, street biking. It's one of the skinniest states in the union. Plus we weren't hit to badly by the economic crunch. I ride all months Out of the year where I am at but I do ride in all weather types and don't mind being cold. Getting further south in the state gets things warmer. Not sure about jobs in your field but you can easily check craigslist.org and monster.com or northerncoloradohelpwanted.com. Good luck hope everything works out for you.
