I'm kind of late here... but I was told by the dealer that if the battery is weak and you try to start it hot, there is too much compression for a weak battery to overcome. (Please no flaming... this is just what little ole' me was told by the smart guys at the dealer)
Back when I used to kill it at lights, I had a weak battery and had to enlist a PUSHING committee. Now, with a strong battery (keep it on the trickle charger all the time) I've had no problem with hot starts.
But you say yours SPINS over. With a weak battery you don't get the spin over.... guess I can't help...
