We always had transvestites. They were all "fringe" population. They still demographically represent a small portion of the population. Nobody was asking us to make them a normal part of our social and military fabric.

That has now returned.

Society has changed and not for the better either.....

I wonder if all the "flower children" grew up and got themselves into positions of authority affecting change in how our society functions....

It's interesting to think about people who are so diverse in their way of thinking and ideology were able to keep the country together at all.

The area I grew up was primarily agricultural and seeing gun racks, ball caps, beat up pick up trucks and tractors on main street was normal...the last time I visited there, it has turned into some sort of metropolis that I no longer recognize......all the farms have been bought up by off-shore conglomerates with many of them either turned into cash crop farms or subdivisions.....

Beautiful old barns and historic farm houses are left to fall down and people no longer live on the land but rather show up to work there like it's a factory.....

Gone are the old days, our time has past.....and it will never come back....there were a lot of good things about the past and a lot of bad but it did forge men and women into being capable and robust-able to take on challenges head on and win.....

I shudder to think of what the future holds......

Lol! I would enjoy that. There are great roads here in the Ozarks. I have noticed in touring that when one enters Ohio, the interstate changes to rough. Second only to Oklahoma in potholes lol.

We won't have much of a future if we are bankrupt.

All I know is every nice place I have ever lived has gotten changed when the preferred political views became opposite of mine. Look at the states where most people are leaving. Now compare that to the states that have the biggest influx of people. Now look at the which political party is in charge of each one.

What happens over and over is, they move into someplace nice, to get away from someplace not so nice. Amass enough of that population and they change the politics from what they left into where they have come to. And nice turns into another dumpster fire.

It might sound really, really lame, but some mornings I watch an old TV show called "Leave it to Beaver" in reality I don't follow the show but I do note how life was depicted during that time in the late '50s in middle America...respect for parents and elders was the biggest takeaway and not only that but parents were being parents, guiding and directing their children through life....

This is something that is sorely lacking these days and has been for quite some time....I raised my boys to say please and thank you and to address elders as either "Mr or Mrs." Even when my younger son joined the military and ran into one of our neighbors who was also in unform, he addressed him still as Mr "so and so" and when I corrected him to address him by his rank, he did so.......this neighbor was always impressed by how my boys acted and how respectful they were/are.

I personally think society is more to blame than people's ideology.....society has changed to the point where it's no longer recognizable to older people much the same as it wasn't recognizable to people before this time.

I do find that in our neck of the woods, it doesn't matter which political power is in charge, change is the same....it's the way human beings are interacting which make the biggest changes.....and right now with the huge amount of drug addiction out there, people are having a tough time.

Attorneys didn't make their livings on frivolous lawsuits.

We both grew up with guns in truck racks. None of us went to o those trucks to solve a dispute. Kids had chores. With consequences if they didn't get done. Kids were taught right from wrong. With the rewards and consequences that came with that.

Cops could administer some street justice in a common sense way.

All true.....

What I find myself doing is keeping my world bubble smaller and only include those people I identify with and want in my life.....the rest I ignore and avoid.

I've also come to the conclusion that nobody cares about what I think or feel so I'm better off not openly voicing this (other than here).

I've also noted this current generation of parents often allows a device to raise their children...I've seen kids as young as three with their head stuck in a tablet playing some sort of game while their parent is on their own device........

This forum is the only place I discuss politics at length. It’s never been a priority nor do I find it necessary. Cap gave me an outlet and I over indulged.

While out walking the neighbor's dog I ran into our former mail carrier who has since retired and is now out canvassing for the conservative party......

He asked me if I wanted a sign in my yard and I told him I don't openly express my political alignment so no thanks...

He said he can understand that and said a lot of people think the same way....

What I do find interesting is how some people (mainly on this forum) are so enamored by their political ideology and especially the man currently in the White House......to the point of being confrontational about it.

I would wager that if we were all in one spot and in person, the conversation would be completely different.

Hi. Maybe to you but not to me. I would have just Thank You. I do not care what they look like. If they just do there job. The US should hire people that can do the job. Not for needing people who can not to yhe jod just because they some woke persom. So maybe we should hire some blind cab drivers? Is that the woke thing to do?

Hi. I never thought that you hated the USA. If he does not hate the USA I am sure the he hates Jewish people and most likley want them dead. So he shoud be sent to palestine. If I was younger I would try and go help the Jewish people. I would go again to help the USA today and hope that they would take me.

In the interest of brevity, I'm confident experts have differing conclusions. That doesn't mean they aren't experts.

I listened to the EXPERTS tell me who was going to win the elections in 2016, and how close it would be in 2022. They were 100% wrong. Twice. Are they still experts?

A poll is a poll....it takes no expert opinion into account.......

An estimate at who would win an election is an opinion.....
