Yep. What a lot of people also lose sight of, is in addition to hiring less qualified in order to make a quota, we are also lowering overall standards in order to allow more to qualify.I'm a recipient of this......
Years ago I decided I wanted to be a police officer so I went to apply.....I completed all the testing and scored first out of 50 people in my testing session. At the time I had 10 yrs of service under my belt and had actively taken part in training of police ETF units which is something few military people have done.
I was told in no certain terms that I was both the wrong color and gender to make it.....the inspector that took me aside said he would deny what he said....but he said I was the most qualified person they had tested in quite some time.
I can see that in large urban police forces such as Toronto for instance need a specific type of person to police certain ethnic areas but in doing this, they often bent the standards in order to meet their diversity quota.....
I have a long time friend who is a Sgt in Toronto and he said the standard of police officers is deplorable mainly due to DEI priorities....he voice his concerns over both public safety and officer safety but was basically told to shut up, he then got moved off patrol to a desk.
If I step on board an airplane to fly somewhere, I do not give a flying eff what my pilots look like. I want them to be the best qualified to take off, land, fly, manage a situation and get me there on time. When I hear that airlines are now accepting pilots with 250 hours of flight time, instead of 1500 hours of flight time as a way to get more pilots, I'm less inclined to fly on that airline.
Here is another real world example. I was hiring a driver. I asked her "What do you feel is your best job skill you can bring to this"? Her response, "I can show up to work on time".
That ended it for me. If anyone thinks showing up to work on time is a job skill, we have a bigger problem than what they look like.
