Going to see if we can plan some basic runs with some info on them.. this may or may not work but figured it might be worth a try so that someone that wants to go someplace specific, will not get left behind..

Let me know if you think this will work/not work or how lay it out.. I am still working the functions of the Google calender so bare with me...

You will have to scroll forward to April..
Ride Calender (Subject to lots of changes)

Please note that this is only a rough guide to the rides so that you might plan part of your week... It is by no means a commitment to join a ride... Hopefully it will allow you to sort of plan your days a bit and to know "who" is leading rides.

The one thing that would be nice is if we know who is leading rides... (I as a relative rookie to the Gap feel better knowing who is leading rides) BusaWhipped, and Vman1300 have both graciously volunteered to lead "N00b rides" These rides are also only tentative on time at the moment.. I would say they will be firm times by 2 weeks prior to event.. (Sound ok?)

Any other volunteers to be ride leaders? (please know this will mean you are in charge and know how to do the job.. safety talks etc)

If you would like an email invite to the calender (I think it will update you to changes) just shoot me an email

nice work setting it up

I'd say move that hooters run out a bit, unless you are running the long way around the loop a 7am departure will put you there before they have even fired up the greese

have we gotten a time yet from Killboy for pics on sat morning? I'd go ahead and put meet for breakfast 730am @ CROT on sat, then pencil in 9-11am for the photo shoot based on previous years timing.

I'll be arriving Wed night.  Thursday morning through Friday afternoon is my quality time on the Dragon.  Saturday all of the crazies are in there clogging it up.  A nice ride on the outer roads is definately in order Saturday afternoon.  For a newbie ride, I would think 125 miles is probably max (tentative route below).  For those more experienced riders, I have a route that is 300 miles of pure heaven if anyone is interested I'll post it up.

we will be posting up some routes in the coming days, working on some good ones for folks and then we'll have threads for folks to chime in on to get some things lined up. We'll also need some folks to vol. to lead rides

we still need time for food/BS/ Hals jokes/

Anyway, Brian is working on routes w/maps and we will post web pages with the route, mileage and approximate amount of time needed for the run.. (1/2 day etc)

This is mostly intended to make day planning easy on those of us that are not really familiar with the area or the rides available...

Any input is greatly appreciated (check the link in the first post and look at the details for "Deals Gap"

Proposed rides:

-Skyway to Telico Plains and back
-Skyway big loop (skyway, rt360, up to merrysville (hooters), down around the foothills, across the dragon and either back to the phillips or out 28 then back into the phillips)
-Foothills via the dragon
-Over to the national park (rt 441)
-cherokee/maggie valley -28/74/28 and back
-Dillsborough and other area towns
-Thunder road (great ride btw) -Blood Mountain (day trip)

for the hooters run on friday, should we do the long trip on the cherahola or go straight up 129?? i would think with the big group we will have, the cherahola would be the better choice as it is certainly alot easier to run than the dragon...

Sounds reasonable..

As soon as we get routes posted, we are going to need ride leaders for the morning jump off... please keep suggestions coming...

Only thing concrete here is the wife and I will ride to Tellico Plains and back via the Skyway for breakfast at that kicking little Bistro over there on the banks of.... that river Thursday am. 8:30 sounds good and the breakfast there is highly recommended!

Hooters run nearly killed us last time....

Have to think about that one...

Good job with the ride plan though!

Maybe I could meet you guys for breakfast then show you a little of my neighborhood

I live about 70 miles from Tellico Plains.

Don't know how many crazy folks would join me, but I'm going to do a skyway and dragon night run this year for sure!
