Question for p-power users...

I am sorry here but at 3000 miles with absolutely no burn outs drag runs or anything other than the everyday commute/backroad blitz I was into the wear bars on the stock rear. How in the world are you boys seeing 10-12k on em???

I just had my second set of powers mounted up a couple weeks ago. I got exactly 10,000 miles on my powers. I ride HARD to. Anyone that rides with me will back that up so in my opion they are just a hardcore sweet performing tire. Get em dude you will be very satisfied. Here is a pic of what mine looked like at 10,000 miles so judge for yourself.
Whooooooooooooooooooooa Nelly! Don't look now but the men dressed in white suits are just around the corner with the straight jacket. But don't worry, with proper medication they'll bring you back to reality

Would somebody tell this boy his mama put new tires on his busa twice when he wasn't looking

I am telling the gods honest truth. 6,500 the first set was put on and I just had the second set put on at 16,800 so you do the math. Of course I was running a little in the danger zone as you can tell from the photo. Technically they should have been swapped out at 8,000 miles but that was 10,000 miles in the photo.

My stock tires only lasted over 6000 miles and that was pushing it. The powers just have great longevity. I mean I don't drag race the bike and I am not a burnout guy either but high speed runs I do PLENTY of. My bike sees 140+ at least once or twice a ride and I do quite of a bit of turn hitting. I just don't have an issue at all with this rubber wearing thin early. Try a set for yourself and see what happens.

I guess I can understand if you live in the flatlands...not too many curves...and are fairly mellow on the throttle, how you can get more mileage.

 But 10,000

 Holy smoke!

That's cool though, just shows you we all ride for different reasons.  I enjoy the occasional straightaway, and do run the speedo up on a regular basis.
But what I really enjoy is the twisties.

These pics of my tires were taken after a 285 mile ride last tuesday, where 3 of us rode from the Tri-Cities to Fossil, Oregon and back.  We were in the saddle just about exactly 4 hrs and 10 minutes.  My speedohealer showed a top speed of 96 mph for the day.  If you do the math, that is about 68 mph average.  There were some straight stretches, but more than half of the ride was 30 to 45 mph (marked) corners.
It was a great day!

I guess I just have to realize that if I continue to push my tires that hard....I'm gonna fry 'em quick.

New tires...here I come!!!

There is a huge difference in the way the bike goes around corners with the Powers on. That alone was worth it. The difference is unreal. I dont ride hard and I feel lucky if I get past 3k on a rear. At this time I have right at 3k on my first set on Powers and love them. Hard for me to believe there is a better tire

A lot of it depends on the type of road surfaces you ride on too. A lot of the ones we have here are really rough and abrasive. The kind that would rip your flesh off if you went down. My stock rear only lasted 3500 miles but if I had nice smooth roads I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more out of it.

You know I never really thought about that. Thats a very good point. I am lucky that around here the roads are maintained very well. Most of the surfaces I ride on are VERY smooth.

I basically get a year on my rubber, I'm coming due very soon. It should be about7k on this set of Conti Force MAX, this is the second set and may get a third. There is more side wall on them than I can reach for and they sit at least an inch shorter than the stock rubber. I regularly, like last week, have balled rubber on both the front and rear tires and no problems with anything but apex gravel and apex water, they both cause seat puckers.

Here are what my Pilots looked like after a day of track:

Here are what the OEM's looked like after track riding too:

As you can see, the stockers dont hold up very well under hard riding conditions like the Pilots. They both had nearly identical mileage when I took these pics.

I was wondering if maybe the tire life is relevant to the learning curve here. Most people would naturally be cautious on the stock tires and getting used to the prodigous torque and power of the Busa maybe the stockers will see a bit less abuse than subsequent sets. But how anyone is getting 12,000miles out of a BT56 is surely miraculous for I am surely not one of them. Going to try out the Metzelers now.

I was looking at those too bigtool.

Give us your impressions once you've had 'em awhile...

I had two sets of the 56 on my busa before reaching 3000 miles. Now I have had the PP on for 800 miles so far. Few high speed long distance runs with no problems. With the stockers I went for a 75 mile highway ride cruising between 100-125 for the entire trip both ways (150 miles total) the tires looked like someone took a bel grinder to them. The rubber was just peeling off. I have not had this problem with the PP yet.
