R-77 Yoshimura vs Brock's Alien Head Dyno

Agree . A/F of 14.7-14.95 or so and possibly even leaner in some areas is way too lean for this guy . Being far too rich in other areas can bring on problems thats never even discussed on these forums and it's not a HP problem either .
For the people saying you don't need a power commander with the R-77 exhaust if you hook the stock 02 sensor back up and their bike runs fine. Well yes, it runs fine, you won't really notice it's running poorly. For one, you haven't even had a proper tune on the bike so you don't even know what good is yet.

Can you hook your 02 sensor up to your R-77 exhaust and be fine for 40k miles? Sure, most likely you will be able to and run into no problems.

Was the decible baffle in the the Yoshimura pipe. I know the one we looked at was out.

Curious to know if all of the runs are on the same day with the same rear tire, gasoline, etc....

Changing the rear tire alone can result in a 3-4 horsepower loss (stock OEM tire vs new replacement from a warehouse)

Fuel can also have an effect (summer blends etc)

Not to mention miles and oil...

Great rule of thumb for any dyno testing - SAME DAY, SAME DYNO, SAME OPERATOR
Ryan,

First off, the customer had us put the Alien Head on and rode the bike for 200 miles and decided it was just way to loud for him so he wanted to get the R-77. We had already dyno tuned the Alien Head setup so I figured I'd post both graphs. They were not done on the same day. The conditions were posted and were fairly close other than humidity was a little different which does play some roll in power difference and how the bike reacts. They were run with the same tire (stock for the 08) put on the dyno the same way as we do with every bike we dyno tune and tuned by the same dyno tuner. He was on the same oil, but he did obviously have to use different gas. Miles were within 200 miles of each other.

This wasn't really for a dyno test. I just figured I'd post up the results as I'm sure people wanted to know.

Cool! The results appear to be accurate then!

I know of many instances where guys claim a 9 horsepower increase with Exhaust A vs B... With 3,000 miles difference and 2 tires, swingarm, fuel, etc...

Just looking out for all!

I was actually amazed that the weather was somewhat similar.

Just had a customer wanting to do the exhaust swap and figured I'd post up for inquiring minds wanting to know. Also a free plug to sell his Brock's exhaust.

I was shown how strapping the bike down tighter with a slightly lower air pressure can change the results significantly. That's why it's important what Ryan said including 3-5 pulls to compare.
The bike was barely strapped down in the rear. Just enough for it to keep it center on the roller and not spin on the roller.

Good comparison none the less... I just wouldn't be putting your yosi pipes on e-bay anytime soon... I still want to see a Yosi with just the tips changed out, carbon fiber to Alien head tip..... Same Bike, Day, MAP nada, nada, nada.

I think the gain if any is in the tip.

I love my Yosh.

Everywhere I go people are asking me about the R-77 CF.

The dyno doesnt tell the only story. Take it to the track and see the MPH difference!!!!! I have and the dyno should be close to accurate the Brock pipe makes a good amount mor MPH then the Yosh
