Raise the tank, remove the top throttle cable from the bracket.

Remove the bar end.

Remove the two screws that hold the switch/throttle housing together. One on the front, one on the rear. You'll need a short screwdriver unless you want to remove the fairing.

I took the cables loose from the housing so I could lube them, but I don't think it's necessary.

Taking the top cable off under the tank should have given you enough slack to get the cables off of the tube.

Slide old tube off.

Reverse procedure to install. Readjust cables and that's all there is to it. The plastic washer that's on the new tube goes inside the housing.

My throttle tube didn't come with a washer. Is the washer optional?

The washer isn't necessary but it does make the side to side play just right. Almost no play but free as can be.

I couldnt use the washer that it came with fyi, also anyone have issues with the throttle sticking, it dosnt "snap back" and I cant figure out where its sticking. I put some light lithium grease around any points of contact I could see but it still has a real hard time returning to "throttle off" position if all that makes sense.

That's strange, mine was just right with the washer inside the housing. Run it back and forth several times then take it apart. Where it's rubbing should be obvious.

we have a 09 r1 in our class at MMI and the throttle is wicked short.. its like 1/3 of a turn to WOT

If I had to guess mine was about 1/4 turn. I was concerned about it being twitchy but it actually was no problem and was much better on the highway.

I would walk out there and measure it, mutha humping thieves.

ok got mine off ebay was like 4 bucks + shipping less than 10 dollars

its an 06 r1 tube with grip and washer , i think the washer goes on the out side so that the grip will slide and not stick to the switch houseing , any how it got it on and i like it , have not been able to ride but its crisp and a little shorter , works great for the price and i also got the moto grips, ill get them on this week somtime !

I just did the R1 today.

Good: Much quicker response at the low end. Almost seems like more HP, but really it's just less effort to open the throttle more.

Notsogood: Took awhile to figure out how to get the lines on, maybe I'll do a write up.
There is a space between the end of the grip and the bar end (the Yammie is a shorter grip)
The grip feels larger than the left side now.

Overall, not a bad mod. It's not difficult and when I first took off I had a silly grin  didn't see much difference at speed (I guess the throttle is already open anyway)

PM if you have specific questions...

Half way through doing this now - so far I recommend and agree with some in the thread mentioning to buy a new grip. I've only just got it off and it's so mangled and stretched it just isn't worth keeping now - it slips too.

Also, haven't readjusted the cables yet, but it feels like this mod has done absolutely NOTHING. Gen2 and a "2006-2008 r6s" "2003-2005 r6" sleeve...

More info when hands are clean again.

** EDIT. Well, all bolts tightened and fastened. So far the only difference is a mangled grip. The only advice I can really give to anyone considering doing this is to definitely go with something a lot more aggressive than the r6 sleeve - if such a thing exists.

Cheers.

I had to re-work the rubber grommet from my Throttlemeister on the R1 throttle tube, and grind down the spacer for my Throttlemeister to work. Tube is shorter on the R1 throttle.
