race shift pattern

Greetings and hallucinations, speedfreaks.
Can anyone answer what I think is a simple question? I'd like to change my shift pattern from street to race; is it just a matter of inverting and turning around the "clamp" that attaches to the shift rod coming out of the case?

Yes that is the answer. If you really don't have a reason to go to GP shifting I wouldn't mess with it. Your brain is preconditioned to that shift pattern and in an emergency you find yourself going the wrong way. Just my two pennies..

I've got mine switched... What howlin' said is partially true..

the first few days are very strange... after that it isn't quite as bad...

I'm still not totally convinced I'm going to leave it that way. I like the feel of it more.l.. but I do find myself sliding my foot under the shifter when I'm getting ready to shift up..


in a straight no big deal.. but coming out of a turn could be not so great..

it's a simple mod though.. try it and see what ya think.

a tip though..

adjust the shifter where you want it before you put the bolt back into the pinch bracket thingie.

Thanks. I doubt I'll leave it that way. Just want to take it to the 1/4 a few times and thought that would be easier.
'been around bikes for 25 years and still don't know the terminology; sorry.

I have mine switched and love it. I ride dirt bike on the weekends and have no problem shifting either bike.
