You don't understand do you about laser and radar. They are totally 2 different things. Laser Jammers ONLY work for laser guns. You need a radar detector for the police that are moving, since than they use radar KA, X bands. If a police car is moving they cannot use laser. If they are sitting they are most likely only using laser(Depending on the police in your area, in OHIO LASER is king for police not moving and just sitting). So if I was going through a 25 MPH zone and a device was hitting my bike, they aren't using LASER they are using RADAR. My radar detector would go off and I would know it was RADAR. I hope that my information is useful. As for they laser jammer not working well....they work great depending on the unit you have and how you set it up correctly. I have had the columbus police hit me with laser for over 45 secounds when I was speeding and than I slowed down and went by them and they looking at their laser gun, wondering what was wrong with it.
no i know quite abit about radar and laser i should have specified RADAR jammers cause i read a few people on here that suposedly had them on their bikes and i was wondering if they worked and in daytona only a hand full of cops use lidar, highway patrol uses lidar in their stings usually but not too many use it regularly on the stretch of highway i run except near orlando

I'd have to mount it on the top edge of my windshield. I find myself riding for a block with the green turn signal light blinking.

The reason lidar isn't popular is that it has a limited range. Someone said about 500 feet. The reason is that the laser has to be no stronger than 5 mW (the same strength as a laser pointer). That is because if a stronger one is used, a cop could damage someone's retinas.

Same thing for laser gun sights. Take one of those out in the daylight and see how puny the spot is then.

dr.nick - Hard System has been around for awhile, ridden with a bunch of riders that swear by them. Only catch is be careful of the batteries (lil watch batteries) as they can go dead and you may not know it.

Also note the Hard system is 5 year old technology (or thereabouts), their direct competitior is the new VizAlert. Sort of the Hard System on steroids. Instead of a single LED, it has ten multi colored ones that will tell you strengh, band, etc. Wireless of course, plus no more on-off switches. It's motion activated. ~$150

Tim I have the escort 9500ix and have been looking for something like this, will it work with it?

Of course I am not TIM but if I may chime in as I also posted this is another thread: I went a different route and got an "alert" that stays on the bike so that I am not stuck using one helmet only (see ebay screenshot below)

You're trusting two suction cups to hold a $450 radar detector on your windshield? Yikes. I've had winshield mounted detectors fall off while driving in a car.

I put one on something like yours, but added velcro underneath just in front of the bars. Then I took black electrical tape and rapped the unit so that the power plug can't come out. That way, if the unit falls off, it will still dangle from the power cord.

NOT quiet....my "vision" is to DRILL through the suction cups to allow insertion of the expansion nuts which will then serve as reinforcements or as STAND ALONE replacements for the suction cups. FWIW, my 1st choice was to use the steering stem but I currently have a Scott's steering damper there. P.S. I also plan to use a lanyard of some sort to "catch/save" the unit in case it dismounts.

I think I'm misunderstanding what you are doing, but you could drill through the windshield and use an inconspicuous
bolt to fasten the mount permanently. I just thought of that.

Double bubble windscreens don't cost that much. In fact, I wish I'd gotten smoke instead of dark smoke.

exactly what I plan on doing using this....waaaay cheaper than the $50-$70 mounts currently available

OK, now we're on the same page. Seems like a bolt and a four grommets would be good enough. Maybe with a lock nut.

Brother,

Listen, I am sort of a expert of this subject. What you want is to get this http://www.motorola.com/motoinf....tId=177 which is the Motorola S9 headset that is bluetooth (It is a behind the neck headset and works great for helmets). Than get this http://store.kyocera-wireless.com/product_detail.aspx?productID=5065 Bluetooth® Black 3.5mm Audio Adapter. What you do is either get a headjack extension from radioshack and run the cable all the way to your storage department or simply plug the audio adapter into the radar detector. Than you can listen to radar detector from under your helmet wirelessly. It works perfect even under extreme speeds. I can hear it going off easly. It is cheap and inexpensive. Why I suggest to run the cable from the front where you hookup your radar detector is because this way if it rains accidentally it is protected. Now only do I have this setup, I also have Laser Jammer installed on the front of my bike. So when the po po hits me with the laser, the radar detector will go off as well and than I can hear it. Also this setup works great for MP3's ......but it is either MP3's or radar detector....not both....still trying find a bluetooth headset like this one that can listen to "simutaneous" from different devices....than I would be set. Trust me it works great. If you don't get a Laser Jammer like this http://www.overstock.com/Electro....0788103 M25 Laser Jammer....than you aren't safe...the po po will still get you.....

Can you post a link that works for the part that plugs into the Radar and transmits the Bluetooth signal to the headset?
