hey guys can someone please post some installs and pics of a radar they have posted on their bikes i know some members say use industrial velcro but i'm a visual learner i dont want a 400+ radar coming loose off my windshield while i'm riding thnx
I stuff mine up under the windscreen with the suction cup mounts... I have the HARD system, so the transmitter wires directly into into and acts like a tether if the unit comes unstuck. So far it works for me.
I have allways made some kind of metal brackets and used velcro to secure radardetectors. Tried in the begining to use the standard sucktioncup mount, but they are doomed because of all the vibration on a motorcycle.
make me nervous Ted... not sure I have the guts to try that with my 9500i (even with KS-Waterbugs unreal pricing) has never come loose? I was going to pull the cups, drill and hard mount mine but I would consider your method if it is really working

I was going to do the same thing, drill the windscreen and bolt in place of the suction cups, but this ended up working very well. But then agian it's just a Passport 8500... I have had the suction cups come off, but the HARD wiring system worked very well to ensure the device does not come off the bike, it will just hand there in front of the gauges. I would not recommend that mounting without some sort of tether regardless.
I probably have about 10,000 miles in this configuration and one high speed get off and it's still working... (takes a licking and keeps coming back for more)
yea the 9500i does not lend itself to hardwire.. it uses an RJ12 plug and the cable also has "smart" buttons.. and "only" and 8500? do not recall them being free or cheap
