RC-51 Opinions

The RC51 probably will turn out being the bike to have this year. I can't really think of any other bike I'd rather pull into a local bike hangout on this summer. You wont see a RC51 on every street corner. Straight out of the box I think it will be better than the 996. I hear the race kits for the RC51 divided - there's a motor kit, suspension kit, and a chassis kit. I just want the motor kit. Yeah Suzuki went after Ducati with the TL1000R but then abandoned the project so they could focus more on the gsxr-750. If Suzuki had stayed with the program who knows what they could have accomplished! Velociraptor, it seems you just like the 996 more because it "looks beautiful." If that's the case buy yourself a nice big 996 poster and save yourself a lot of money. You can sit and stare at it all day. There's really not much doubt in my mind that the RC51 will be better on the street than the 996. For 1 the RC51 is cheaper and will cost much less to maintain. The RC51 will also be more comfortable than the 996. Guess we really wont know for sure untill the mags get thier hands on one. RC51 v TL1000R v 996 v Aprilia Mille R will be interesting which comes out on top. I wonder how much money it'll cost me to make my RC51 hang with R1/929's in the straights. I've seen TL1000R's hang with R1's on straights but I don't know how much money was invested in them.

Dangermouse, all agreed!!!!

Isle of Mann - isn't the record lap on a Yamaha OWO1 ridden by some guy named Carl F.

I Foggarty/forgot his last name, the memory goes with age you know,he now rides for some Italian company -Malagutti, no - ah yes he rides for that Ducati company.

The 996's have a good deal of success in the US as well, some other guy named Doug with his friend Eraldo used to race Ducatis here pretty well a few years back, Doug was last seen racing the "Corona Hayabusa" at the Willow Springs Endurance races last year.

At least I ended this all up with a Hayabusa point, this is the Hayabusa.ORG site.

The RC51 initially caught my interest, but my feeling now is that in stock form it will be nothing special. In WSB trim it might be a world champion. But for 10-11 grand out the door the Hayabusa is VERY special.

Velociraptor, what do you mean in stock form it will be nothing special? From the looks of things in STOCK form it will be one of the best if not the best v-twin in STOCK form!!

I don't plan on leaving my RC51 stock but I don't plan on spending thousands and thousands of dollars on it either. I figure after I get Ti pipes, dymag wheels, and a few other goodies it'll be right where I want it. And the way I see it anyone getting a RC51 really has nothing to lose because I doubt it's going to lose it's value anytime soon so if you don't like it you can turn around and sell for maybe even more that you bought it for!

hiabuser, Foggy was the first man to do a WSB double race win on the RC45, up until then race wins were few and far between, the following years RC45 was much better.

Slam-you wanted OPINIONS. I expressed my opinion. I'm am not going to buy any of these bikes since I have a nice Busa and that's enough for me. Ducati poster??? Way too expensive ;)

You guys are like kids; don't make the same mistake twice. Wait for the second model year when they are cheaper and all problems fixed. It looks like some of you might have not gotten enough attention from your folks. The market is crapping out, so save your money for later.

Never considered the 99 Busa purchase a mistake, just a little pissed about the cut out but I would have went for the 2000 Busa.

No balls no glory!

Would you suggest a nice 98 XX instead?

We are talking Honda and Suzuki, not Kawasaki!

April 18th is not soon enough,

It will beat a ZX12 hands down - well at least to the showroom floor :)
