RC51 owners

I've got a good friend here in Iraq with me that has an '02 RC51. The thing is pretty much stock and he's looking to do a couple things to it. The standard fare, like exhaust and some other bolt-ons. I've got no experience with the RC51's and he has never researched it. Can anyone pass on some good info on a decent exhaust system and maybe some other common things to improve the bike?

Thanks!
Dustin

I have heard a jardine exhaust on one of those bikes and I also was able to take it for a spin. Those bikes have a ton of torque and that exhaust sounded sweet. Not a very comfortable bike for me,but cool though.

These must be nice bikes ? I always hear people talking about them, and thier handling ? Are they a V-twin ?

I had an rc51 previous to my busa. If he wants the best exhaust with the best hp gains he needs to go with sato exhaust. the standard mount has the most hp gains with an average rc w/ power commander putting down 134 hp and the bonzai mount(high mount) putting out more decibals and just 3 or 4 hp less than the low mounts. Stay away from jardines.... the fitment is poor and the quality of the assembly sucks.

he might also look into doing the soft rev mod. The rc start killing power at around 9.5k rpm before hitting the hard limiter at 10.5k. removing the soft rev limiter does not harm the engine and will free up 7 hp or so at the top. have him stay away from k&n filters... they lose hp on rc51's. BMC all the way or stock works just fine. also look into disableing the flapper. it causes a flat spot in the hp/tq curve. just unplug the vacuum line and plug it and that is it. seriously recommend a -1 cs sprocket... some also go up 1 on the rear but to each his own. a -1 made mine wheelie happy so I left it at that.

+1 The Sato on this bike sounds awesome...can't go wrong

I'll second the Sato or the Moriwaki (which I ran on my RC51).

Witchdoctor is on the money with the rest of the mods.
