While compression is present, the air/fuel ratio has less of an effect on firing voltage level, and will not affect the CAMOUT signal.
I may have missed something, but was this not a response to a statement about multiple o2 sensors being used to tune each cylinder? It clearly states in this that the air/fuel ratio will not affect the camout voltage. This appears to be more of a tool for diagnosing the health of the engine and ignition system than a tuning tool. Am I wrong?
Also I was wondering how sensitive this system is to the gap of a spark plug. For the guy in his back yard doing a tune up, EXACT gaps would be next to impossible to get.
