Well, I usually talk to john (runeight) a couple of times a week. He called me last night around dinner time to tell me he was once again on his 4 hr. journey to the transplant center, where he and Mikki would wait to see if she had a match for a pancreas.
Mikki has been battling diabetes for a long time, and even worse, had a transplanted pancreas that had worked for sometime, and then decided to not. Which in turn put her right back on to the insulin and all the sugar testing and the diabetic comas that go with it!

So, for 8 months now, she has been on the list... The waiting game list that is.
Well, I got a call at 5 AM this morning and he was thrilled to tell me that it is indeed a match and they are scheduled for the transplant at 11 AM this morning!

So please help me wish her a sucessful operation and recovery to this major operation that she desperately needs.
His usual days work includes keeping her alive by monitoring her all the time.

That's fantastic. They have been hoping for this for a long time. Prayers sent for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

John & Mikki, nothing but love for you two. If you need anything, please give me a call.

God Bless all involved in making this happen, Best Wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!

I dont wanna sound "morbid" here, but he had told me last night that a family (I believe in California) was ready to take their 18 yr. old siblin off of life support. This would be the donor.
It makes me rethink the fact that I need to get my azz in gear and become a donor myself...

*side note:
If you don't have the Organ Donor marked on your license. Do it. I figure where ever I'm going when I die.. my body isn't going with me.

Also I carry with me a small thumb drive, it has my living will, Organ donation sheet and medical advocate information. Along with emergency contacts, medications and allergies. If I knew my blood type, that would be on there also. The thumb drive is marked I.C.E. in case I'm ever in an accident, paramedics will find it.

John and Mikki,
Here's hoping for a quick and complete recovery!

Prayers to the family that's lost a child, and many thanks to that family and that individual for being an organ donor. It is truly something we should all do; I have been an organ donor since I first started driving 21 years ago. I have a family member on the waiting list for a liver, so my family knows how important it is to have organ donors willing to give life. I've also lost family that donated organs and we all know how much other families appreciated such a gift.

That is awesome... I pray for everything to go alright.

I just got a call a few weeks ago informing me that I am a PRIMARY match for a bone marrow patient. I will hear more back in a few weeks if they require more testing. I signed up for this back in 1994 when a girl at my college was looking for a match for bone marrow and the whole University was tested... and found a match. This is the first time in 14 years that I was a match.... I encourage everyone to do it.... Google Bone Marrow Registry testing.
