I understand, I do not post faces, plates, or anything like that on the web.

My face occasionally.

She is a smart woman, this forum is a public site.

Check to see that the little hoop in the swingarm that the brake line travels through isn't pinching the brake line. I did the same thing one time and that's what caused my problem.

I'm wondering why using a lock on the rear is better/different than using a disc lock with a lock reminder on one of the front rotors. The Roadlok seems like an excellent item but at $200 is a little pricey. I have about $35 in a regular disc lock and the lock reminder. Don't they both do the same thing, immobilize the bike?

Between a putting the disc lock on the front or back yes they are the same thing.

But with the RoadLoK you will NEVER have the damage that happened here.

Once the RoadLoK pin is inserted and locked the bike cannot move. This reduces the chances of you taking off and forgetting the lock.

The worst that could happen is the bike would stall.

Now lets say you are using a lock like this

There is a long range of motion that allows a would be criminal to roll the bike, AND the lock can be drilled out or broken off.

With the RoadLoK it is mounted on your swing arm there is no movement once the pin is locked and it cannot be drilled, frozen, or cut off.

I thought that is what the lock reminder is for. You put one end on the disc lock and the other end on the handlebar. I would love to have a Roadlok put I can't spare $200.

I agree on the reminder, but that is the only positive in favor of a standard lock.

If cost is a factor, thats something that you have to solve for on an individual basis.

We try to combat that by offering our group buy.

Thanks for the input.

He says he can't spare $200.....but can he spare the cost of a new bike when his is stolen? Or the cost to repair his bike if he damages it?

I'd say thats weighing the option of investing 200 now or paying for much more in the long run.

A lot of people who cannot afford the up front cost accept the risk.

It similar to insurance and the debate on full coverage VS none/collision.

My job is to tell the story both ways and make sure that everyone makes an informed decision. There is no right or wrong.

I believe, and speaking for myself of course, that the $200 some may find a lil high is that of priority. My Busa only sees the light or night of day with me arse planted on it. VERY rarely ever do I find myself leaving her outside, let alone unattended. So therefore droppin 2 bills for the RoadLok is somethin of an excess that I can put off for some better(finacially speaking) days. The $40 disc lock is an acceptable alternative which allows me to apply that differance in cost to do mods and upgrades that I will get more of a return on everytime I ride.

That being said, I would love to acquire the RoadLok at some point, just right now Im tryin to put away for gettin my PCIII dyno mapped, puttin on some wave rotors up front, and a few other mods that Ive been wanting to do.

Just my .02
