Rear Stand

My old Bandit had the center kickstand that allowed the rear wheel to come off the ground. Of course, the Busa doesn't. I've seen the stands for the rear wheel, but I've not seen one used to lift the back. I'm not really understanding how the front just doesn't slip forward as you're trying to prop the back up. Am I just being a complete idiot and not comprehending the actual ease of using the stand?

And yes, I'm not so mechanically inclined...

Thanks,
Lovey

Most use the rear stands with spools/bobbins to support the bike. With that, the rear stand hooks around the spools/bobbins and catches the rear of the bike. As you apply pressure to the stand the rear wheel comes off the ground. The front wheel may move at an angle (if you have the wheel turned), but not forward. It's all physics. Here's a pic of it up.

the rear bobbins are slightly hook shaped and pull the back back as you push down and elevate it.

I ordered one of those stands from Handy.. and never ever got it!! I think I'll have to refer to the pics and get one of them made here in India itself

shenoyp, I would call them back and find out what happened. I haven't known of anyone not receiving stuff from them. Usually its received before it was expected to arrive.

Take a piece of 2X6 and slip it under your sidestand, might want to staple something to it to make it taller. Adjust 2X6 thick ness until your Busa is just about perfectly verticle. Then line up your pit stand with the bobbins and your good to go simple one man operation without risking dropping your bike.

Be careful with cheep stands and stands that don't use bobbins. You get it wrong on one of these flexy cheap stands and your going to get your heart broken.

PitBulls are about the best on the market, but I'll tell ya Vortex makes a Killer Rear stand for only $110.

I had a center stand put on my Busa when I bought it. It worked great and came in very handy.

Has any one else tried the Cycle Cat rear stand? I had one shipped to me and assembled it. Very good quality and pretty red finish. It looks weird sitting on the floor because of the tilted angle. But it is as they advertise on the web site. The stand fits under the busa on the side stand and without any effort it lifts up without having to use the grab bar or any part of the bike. I was amazed at how little effort is required to lift. Doesn't work too well with the bike in the Baxley chock though. It likes the leaned bike not a straight up bike. So I guess I will have to keep the Pit Bull to use when in the chock.

I have a set of Lockhart Phillips race stands that work with the bobbins/spools, and I love them. I just modified my rear stand so that it will work with my new "stretched" swingarm.

That’s the way I do it! Pit bull is my choice. However, I find bringing it down is a little scary. I pull up the handle w/ my right off the left side & guiding the bike over to the kickstand with my left hand. This is the critical part because the bike can lean either way once it’s on the ground…just keep the handle steady & pull slightly to the kick stand side…I’ll even to get a shoulder into it so it won’t come down too hard on the kickstand!

I like the forward handle Pitbull stand.  You can walk around and work on the back wheel without that handle poking you in the arse!!

You also stand NEXT to the bike when raising and lowering so no real chance of dropping it.......knock on wood.

Cuffee,

Grab hold of that baby and show her who's the boss!

FL Knifemaker is your bike lowered? I was told if the bike is lowered the front stand you have won't work.
