Rear wheel reinstallation

Ha. I'm undecided about whether to pack the heavy axle wrench when sport touring, not the bike!

Despite loving sport tourers, I stay somewhat local, but also would likely shatter parts on my bike if I applied wrenches to them. So I happily avoid the weight of tools. It may be my imagination but I am pretty sure that I have heard the bike directly speaking to me, "Thanks for not touching me with those things...Neanderthal."

Sit in a mechanics chair or on the ground. Use your foot as a 'jack'. BIG KEY IS TO USE SOMETHING SMOOTH AND PRESS THE PADS APART. I've been using a closed needle nose for years. Been a GSX fan for years. Raced for years. Once you 'get it'. It does get easier. Sometimes it goes right up and in. Other times. DAMN IT!...lol... Just the way it is. With the newer models the ABS sensor is a 'concern'... Careful, careful...Use a deadblow hammer to knock in the axle. If you use your hand. One time you WILL hit that nerve in the palm of your hand. I know!

Yeah I probably need to do this too. Sigh
I stole a trick from @Mythos and use a phone book. Well there only one old small phone book in the shop but we have a bunch of old chiltons and such from cars so i put them under the wheel before I take it off and since the new tour is taller I can just flip some pages to adjust it. Works great and I even used this trick to lower a cbr yesterday.
