Well I got the call this morning. I go on terminal leave 23 June 2008 with a retirement date of 31 Aug 2008.

This morning my Chief called me and said "Look bro you have been standing the watch for 20 years, so from now until you go on terminal leave, you call me at 1000 every day and let me know that you are alive. You have no more responsibilites and you work directly for me. I may need you to go to a station or some little thing but for the most part relax."

Is that awesome or what?

I am very happy about that I gotta tell you.

Thanks guys. It has been my pleasure and honor to be a part of the force defending our country.

Gotta love it! You've earned it. I had a similar experience when I was getting out, though I was broken. Still, an officially unofficial Rubber Stamped ROAD is hard to beat...

Better start working that golf game and looking for a GS position.

My father in law is coming up on his 3rd Government Paycheck. Retired AF 20 years, Coming up as a retired GS14 at 20 years, and a disability check from the AF...

So don't over look the GS positions if you can find something you enjoy... Double retirement at 60 is pretty damn good way to go.
