LONDON (AP) -- Ringo Starr doesn't want to hear from you. If you do write, your letter will end up in the trash. That's the message from Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr. After 45 years of stardom, he doesn't want to spend any more time answering mail or sending signed photos back to fans.

Ringo Starr: No more fan mail - MSN Music News

My first question was "Is anybody even writing to him?"
I think it is a stunt to get publicity, because no-body cares about him.
I like the Beatles but he was the least talented of the bunch, and still proving it to this day.

I agree on all points...anyone of a hundred drummers could have filled his shoes and the beatles loose almost nothing.

Write Ringo

A side note for Beatlemaniacs...
One movie I really liked (about them, sort of, not by them) was
"two of us" . I thought that was done really well.

Yeah the only notable thing he did was marry Barbara Bach.
When they both starred in "Caveman" he was a dork and she was a real babe.

Keep in mind that a lot...I mean A LOT of serious musicians and percussionists cite him as both an influence and a very competent drummer who pioneered and advanced many techniques that are commonplace today. It's fashionable to bash him as the lowest of the Beatles, but musically he was and still is a well respected and technical drummer. He contributed greatly to the group's overall sound and musical persona. If you mix out all but the percussion track on nearly any Beatles song you can still almost always tell what song it is, his style is that distinct, the same can be said of only a handful of drummers in the world.

I can only assume that forty five years of constant hounding and life in the public eye have finally gotten the better of him. I can't say I'd feel any different after a lifetime spent on permanent tour and putting up with the nonsense that goes along with it. I don't wish him any ill will for wanting to live more quietly in his old age. He has made it his mission to respond personally to every piece of mail he's received for almost half a century, I think he deserves a retirement like anyone else.

Yeah crash, your probably right. I was probably a little to harsh. I like Ringo...
