Rolling start

I get asked to race alot of the time just so they can see how well they improved their ride...But if someone says to me i bet 100 bucks I can take you from a 60 roll And I see they only have a tuner then Im taking that race. But only because I usually know what others are running Turbo No2 SC it doesnt matter. If you wanna run ill run. If you win thats a fast car and you put to much money in it for a daily driver....

exactly, so you are either getting hustled or hustling someone...correct.

so...if a guy comes up to you and wants to run you, from a 60mph roll..what does that tell you?

he think he can beat you from a 60mph roll...right? he is not going to suggest a race cannot win.

so why race his race?

You would have to have a pretty powerful car to beat the busa, i wouldn't say it's his race check the videos out on a diffrent thread i think hayabusa vs s2000!!!!

You dont have to have a powerful car to beat a busa just a good setup will make a stock busa work for its prize. Ive been handed my @ss a few times by cars that only had a few 4-500 hp.

Thats pretty Powerful!!! I mean i know there 800 and up but 4-500 in a car is got some kick to it. You would have to drop allot of money into the car to get it there with the busa you could do a few mods, air box full exhuast, and you can take a 500hsp car by 4-5 car lengths.

unless that car is a Caddy or Lincoln.. you are not going to beat it by that far.. that is over half a second.. a 500hp street car is going to run low 10's or high 9's in street trim if set up correctly.. it will run 8's in full race setup.. (IE rolling chassis)

I know of a 2008 Tahoe 4 door SUV that runs faster than any stock Busa I have seen and the guy drives it every day. (9' teens)

A new Z06 is good comp for a stock busa.

I have seen a z06 race a busa, that had 16-43 gearing, full brocks exhaust, air box mod and pc 3 and beat the z06 by atleast 3-4 car lengths... a z06 has 505 hpw. now i understand allot depends on the driver to, it was a pretty impressive race though.

I would love to see a Tahoe that can run that fast. Now that would be VERY impressive..

an s2000 is not exactly a burner......

there are two things to consider when racing a car..and how you race it.

a well done drag car will out 60foot most guys on a bike, especially a stock wheelbase bike....

cars usually have much better aerodynamics than a bike and a rider....this is important as the speed break 100mph.

500-600 hp in a slippery body like a supra or vette is not an easy kill in a high speed run from 60mph

Key phrase there is 16/43 gearing... now put a 17/40 gear busa up against it and watch what happens...busa loses

I know that, I was meaning the Viper video. he races a stock busa then a slightly modified busa, and a highly modified zx12. pretty cool vid.

I understand that, the point was you have to drop allot more $ into a car for that kind of power, then you would have to on the busa.

Not really if you figure 1000 for exhaust and 500 for sprockets and chain and then 200 for a good tire and your at almost 2k...While a car you can go with 200 for exhaust and 200 for gears and 250 for tires and around 1800 for a used paxton SC or around 1500 for a well setup NO2 system your not that far off.

Rolling start favors the guy that dosen't know how to launch. Also favors the guy that says "go" because he's ready and going to get the jump on you everytime. He's in his gear at his revs and when all is perfect for him he jumps on it and says go.

Power to weight ratio favors the bike @ lower speeds. Traction is an issue for big hp cars on street tires, hence them wanting to go from a roll. Bikes crappy aeros put a car @ a distinct advantage as speed increases, be prepared to get eaten alive by a 600+ hp car unless you're pushing 250 or better to the wheel, and even then you better not be scared! Just my opinion..........
As far as hustling goes, thats just part of racing!

To begin with there should be a mutually agreed upon starting point, no one yelling "GO" and rolling starts are far easier on the hardware than launching from a dead stop. Clutches, tires, chains, valves and bearings cost a lot of money. Gearing and rpm level at the starting 'line' added to the power to weight ratio benefit makes all the difference.

The racer's race that can't afford to race?

Tried it a few times in my younger daze.

Neighbor across the street was into it. One party or the other always got the jump. It was never a fair start. When he got it " I got my azz kicked" according to him. When I got the jump "He wasn't ready". Never proved anything in my mind, other than he could go fast in a straight line, as long as he didn't have to do it from a standing start. His excuse was "I just wanna see what the bikes can do".

Do they through it out of a Plane?

The rolling start, normally is just for personal satisfaction and curiosity purposes. I have done it and I would be willing to bet that most here have done it as well.

What does it prove? Not alot.

Does it give a little sense of pride? You bet it does.

For most riders if they win this "roll on", the check mark in the win column is as big as any other check in the win column, and all who win this race would probably brag about a little bit.
